Va. Congressman Stanford E. Parris

Republican Congressman Stanford E. Parris, who served six terms in the U.S. House of Representatives from Northern Virginia, has died at the age of 80.
Parris was elected in 1972, served one term, and went back to Congress in 1981, serving until 1991. He supported transportation efforts in Northern Virginia and was a staunch opponent of D.C. statehood efforts.
He was also a combat pilot in the Korean War.
