Israel's Final Warning to the World?

By Lee Hockstader

It was hard, listening to Binyamin Netanyahu excoriating the United Nations on Thursday, to avoid the impression that this speech -- in all its righteous, angry, victimized fury -- could one day be seen as a milestone in the Mideast’s march toward war.

Here was the Israeli prime minister, standing before the very body that had condemned the Jewish state so many times, evoking Winston Churchill, offering documentary proof that the Holocaust really happened and warning the world of its blindness to the gathering storm.

The danger in Netanyahu’s view, of course, is Iran and its nuclear ambitions. And even as Netanyahu delivered his admonition, Iran was preparing to confirm to the world that it was operating a second, illegal uranium enrichment plant.

“I believe...peace can be achieved,” said Netanyahu. “But only if we roll back the forces of terror, led by Iran, that seek to destroy peace, eliminate Israel and overthrow the world order. The question facing the international community is whether it is prepared to confront those forces or accommodate them.”

When I was The Post’s correspondent in Israel 10 years ago, there was urgency in the Jewish state’s warnings of the peril posed by Tehran. That urgency has now reached a fever pitch inside Israel, as Iran draws closer to nuclear capability -- a fever reflected in the nearly apocalyptic shades of Netanyahu's rhetoric. Will his speech in New York be the Jewish state’s final warning to the world?

Why is Hockstader so mute about "israel's" formidable nuclear arsenal which is the reason why Iran is scrambling to develop its nuclear technology.

How ironic that the loudest voices agianst Iran are France,Britain and the US, who were instrumental in building "israel's" nuclear arsenal.

Iran's claimed "nuclear facilities" sound like Iraq's WMDs-which turned to be the lie of 21st century.

The whole propagnda campaign against Iran is manufactured by "israel" and baised media to distract from "israel's" war crimes in Gaza and more importantly its day light theft and colonization of the little Palestinian land that is left of their homeland.

Thirty years ago Israel warned the western world that, although they were they ones being targeted by Arab terrorism, what happens to the Jews soon befalls everyone. Twenty years ago Israel warned the west to beware of Islamic fundamentalism, then targeting Israel but soon to target the world. Now, you can sacrifice Israel in the hopes of appeasing the Muslims, but that never works, does it? Or you can form an alliance of the west against Iran and stop them in their tracks. Even those who think Israel deserves being blows off the map for "stealing" Palestinian land or being fundamentally "illegitimate", will not be spared. In Islam's eyes the entire west is illegitimate.

Israel has nuclear weapons for the same reason the other good guys have them.
The bad guys are not allowed to have them for obvious reasons.
To try to make moral equivelence between Iran and Israel is idiotic.
Iran is a bad guy and at some point will be bombed unless they smarten up.
It is not very complicated if you consider your children and their children's future.

"Thirty years ago Israel warned the western world that, although they were they ones being targeted by Arab terrorism, what happens to the Jews soon befalls everyone."

Consider the Israelis were themselves the cause of the problem, it was real nice of them to issue those warnings. There is no alliance on earth that can stop the Iranians in their tracks, anymore than there is an alliance to stop North Korea in its tracks. Hard power advocates such as yourself are going to go absolutely crazy and froth at the mouth, but there is not a chance the game can be played on the terms you suggest. War in the Persian Gulf would be a complete disaster for all of us.

Israel is so locked down that they can defend themselves against an Iranian counterstrike. We can't; not without fundamentally changing the nature of our society. Remember a few years ago with the simultaneous strange odor in New York and dead birds in Austin, Texas? That came shortly after Bush's warning to Iran about "World War III" in October 2006. We could obliterate Iran within a matter of seconds. We don't face any long-term danger from Iran; this is Israel's fight, not ours.

I would be very lukewarm about going to extraordinary measures at this point in time to defend Israel when their government has thumbed its nose at international requests to stop building settlements so that a peace treaty can be negotiated. Israel has a right to defend themselves, of course, even if it means attacking Iran's leadership and facilities. But I would not favor lifting a finger to help the Israeli leadership in that effort unless they come to our terms on a Middle East peace agreement.

Greetings from Israel to the fringe press as the Washington Post. I have lived with incoming rockets for too damn long. Iran will wipe us out with three missiles but we will not get burned nor without taking some the Islamists with us. No more out of the cattle cars and some SS man with a finger pointing to the right or the left. I do not think the World knows what "Never Again" means or an Islamist saying "First Saturday and then comes Sunday". Our corpses will leave a plague on your dung heaps and you do not have DDT to stop the typhus our bodies left behind. All the World thinks like the French with Henry V at Agincourt so remember where curse of the finger came from. I suggest you read Shakespeare.

Considering that the word is out that Iran now has its real nuclear production plant buried where Israel can't hope to get at it, Bibi better find a different way to deal with Iran. Assuming that the works they put underground are deep enough that no conventional attack can get at it, and that they will continue to dig in and harden their key industries, Israel might want to try something other than saber rattling to get anywhere with Iran.

It now flatly doesn't matter what the militarists want in the matter, any attack on Iran will be a bloody disaster at best, and the real prime nuclear site is below ground and out of reach. But THAT should have been something Israel's overrated intelligence people should have seen coming five years ago. Israel pushed, Iran reacted, and now it is out of Israels control for good.

Now the ONLY course is Barack Obama's willingness to talk.

It is sad that in those fifty years you never got a class in Geography or a dose of reality.

Iran has a couple of geographic features you might want to familiarize yourself with, mountains and deserts. The Natanz facility is well protected, set in the mountains with deserts on all flanks from which an Israeli attack could come, and they have plenty of anti aircraft missiles, developed from the HAWK missiles Reagan sold them to pay for his war in Nicaragua. ANY Israeli attack is into the teeth of those missiles, and either they go in first with anti radar bombers and warn Iran well in advance, or they try to go in without such preparation, at the very limit of their ability to do so and pay a desperate price to get the wrong nuclear facilities.

Meanwhile, any Israeli attack on Iran gives Iran the grounds to close off the Straights of Hormuz, and follow that with a cleansing of the Persian Gulf when Iran sinks every ship in it not flying a flag that Iran feels is properly deferential to those Ayatollahs.

Iran is now just a whole lot too tough a morsel for Israel to chew up and swallow, and it wouldn't be any easier for anyone else. Iran is making itself a mixture of armadillo, very spiky cactus, poison arrow frog, and skunk, and every day that passes they get just a little more uncomfortable for their enemies to go after. Israel can only kill lots of Israelis, too many Iranians, and torpedo the world economy by its belligerence, so it better learn how to talk to its enemies, because this enemy is not going to give up just because Israeli pilots bomb the wrong site.

Get a grip Hockstader. It is not illegal for Iran to enrich uranium under the NNPT. Is there anything more absurd in this world than to have an Israeli Prime Minister with illegal nuclear weapons, threatening a war that he can order the U.S. to take part in, against another country that has no nuclear weapons and won't have them for several years, if at all?

Recall that Netanyahu complained loudly that Israel should have used the cover of Gulf War I to transport, ethnically cleanse, every Arab from Israel, the West Bank, and Gaza, locking them in trucks and railway cars and sending them to surrounding countries, never to return. This is colonial age savagery people, the kind of insane savagery possessed by the Nazis that we can't believe nor truly comprehend to this day. And yet this war criminal, Netanyahu, leads what many concede is a terrorist state and he has allies that control American foreign policy and the American media. This is beyond insane.

Americans had better start stocking up on gasoline and looking for car pools. Israel is going to get us into yet another war paid for by American taxpayers. As fragile as our economy is and with our debt, it might bankrupt the U.S. economy and end the era of American primacy in the world.

Posted by: dangerosa | September 25, 2009 10:14 PM | Report abuse

First, if it is to be war it's between the Israeli's and the Iranians. It's not our war.

Second, when Israel opens up it's nuclear arsenal for the world to look at then they have an argument with Tehran. Right now they just look like a bunch of hypocrites. Their logic is what we (Israel) does is right and what they (Iran) does is bad. We (Israel) can have nuclear weapons, but they (Iran) can't. We (Israel) aren't bound by the same rules as Iran so we don't even have to admit we have nukes even though the rest of the world knows we do.

Note to Israel: You can't have the promised land if it's radiation levels won't sustain humans. Disarmament also includes Israel and until we insist on it there can be no agreement with Iran to stop enriching uranium.

Finally, I'm sick of the holocaust argument. I am not a denier of the holocaust. I believe it happened and I believe somewhere between 4-6 million Jews were killed in a systematic fashion. That doesn't give Israel free license to invoke the memory whenever they want and expect people to keep taking them seriously. They have so over used the guilt argument it has lost meaning. The other part of over use by the Israeli's is anytime someone doesn't agree with their policies they automatically label them antisemites. This has lost all meaning as well. I'm not anti Israel and I'm not a holocaust denier. I'm just anti acting badly and Israel has acted very badly and shouldn't be rewarded for bad behavior.

Unfortunately this will not happen and the General Assembly will keep hearing these ramblings at infinitum, and do nothing about it.

The US and Mr Obama should do everything to ensure that Israel is not the one to begin a war in the Middle East. If a war is started by Israel, it will perhaps be an attack on Iran's nuclear installations. That is likely to lead to unforeseeable consequences, and the course of the war after that may be unpredictable.
One result of such a war shall almost certainly be that the US, and especially Mr Obama, shall lose all influence with the Middle Eastern countries big and small. Nobody will listen to the US again after that. As it is, everybody thinks that the US has been using Israel as a proxy for the pursuit of its objectives in the region, in whatever way defined. A war started by Israel shall reinforce that view. In any case, it will be very difficult for the US not to stand by Israel, even if Israel were wholly to blame and wholly irresponsibloe in its attitude towards things Middle Eastern. Let us hope someone in Washington is alive to the possibilities and pitfalls.

Not being very clever most of you posters did not remotely understand what Bibi Netanyahu was saying when he flashed the Wannsee agreement about at the UN this week. What he was actually saying "first us, then YOU". He was equating the current mindset of the world vis-a-vis the Iranian regime with what happened in World War II and which has already set the seeds that will create World War III. Few of you grasp the intricacies of his warnings which he has been making for many years now, namely, that fundamentalist Islamists are a threat to the entire world as well as to each other. As for those of you morons who claim this is not YOUR war but OURS, let me remind you of the 130,000 reasons why you are full of it. As the Muslims say, "First comes Saturday then comes Sunday". Jew Hating is just a cover when your death dreams are to go forth. Hitler's 1,000 year Reich lasted 12 years where he killed 50 million people, wiped out a Generation of his own people solving the unemployment problem and making the economic miracle possible; not to say 30 years of women seeking mates of even enemies that flattened their cities which stank of death well into 1951 with rotting corpses.

In our Revolutionary War the few Jewish Bankers gave their wealth and were never paid back, the religious ministers gave their sacred honor and the New England Bankers were booted. That War allowed the South to stumble upon the Indian trick of aging tobacco 8+ years. Netanyahu's address on the subject of Iran was one thing, his claims that all Israel wants is peace with the Palestinians is another. He spent his final minutes at the podium claiming that he wanted nothing better than to make a peace deal with the Palestinians and the Arab world at large. Implicit in his comments, however, was the contents of his peace deal: a Jerusalem-less, de-milatarized, landlocked, powerless lackey appendage of his own state, all for the Palestinian's recognition of Israel as a "Jewish" state. His final solution wasn't much better than Hitler's.

"Jewish States" are cut from the same cloth as "Islamic Repubics". I say do away with theocracies. If this, on the other hand, is about preserving some kind of "Jewish race", well, I like racist states even less.

The core of the Mother of all "Middle East" quagmires is as much Jewish-motivated as it is Hamas-driven. If it weren't for the Israelis, Hamas might not exist.

The insistence on a Palestinian recognition of a "Jewish State" is only explicable as a rejection of the concept of "one person, one vote": something that evidently terrifies Netanyahu. The U.S. must not condone a race-based power structure in Israel. That's what friends are for.

Perhaps a bit of historical perspective is in order. If you are Iranian, in the past 75 years the US government has: overthrown your democraticly elected government, set up a brutal dictator (the Shah) to rule your country, supported an enemy state (Iraq) in a bloody 10 year war, and finally has large standing armies on two of your land boarders and maintains a significant naval presence off your coast.

It's not paranoia if someone really is out to get you.

Looking at the situation historically, it's easy to see why Iran wants nuclear weapons but will not admit it. Admission would invite more US aggression while obtaining nuclear weapons would, likely limit US intervention (see North Korea).

Iranian nuclear ambitions have little to do with Israel and everything to do with the existential threat they feel from the US. 75 years of mistrust is hard to overcome.

The question asked is 'Was this a final warning to the world?', (an ultimatum) with the implication that it is the world, not merely Iran, that is being threatened, which in turn is an implicit acknowledgement that the consequences of an Israeli attack on Iran would be very bad for the whole world and not without negative consequences for Israel.
For this reason I don't think it was an ultimatum. It was an effort to influence international negotiations with Iran. It stopped short of telling the international negotiators 'Reach outcomes A, B and C by date D or else!' which would be a true ultimatum to the world.

The presumption that Iran should be bombed is crazy. If bombs are dropped then we get one step closer to a big war.

Israel is a bully nation that wants to bomb other nations into submission. However, Israel has a nuclear capability but Israel, the US and the West say nothing about that. Why?

Lets deal with realities. The US has over 2000 nukes and it is proud of its efforts to build enough bombs to blow the world to smithereens three times over.

Iran has not gone to war against other nations. It did defend itself against a war initiated against it by Saddam Hussein and supported by the US. The US, on a regular basis, bombs other nations and yet it tells us that Iran is dangerous.

I wonder how many Americans who are prepared to support bombing of Iran have stopped to think of how they would react if they were bombed. As usual, Americans can be expected to preach violence without contemplating the indecency of their actions. Everyday America takes the world closer to WWIII when and if it preaches violence against other nations because some people in those nations can be expected to want to respond to US violence.

I say that Iran should not be bombed and that the West should stop its knee jerk reaction of contemplating violence in order to bring nations into line with Western policies. If Iran should not have nukes then why should the West have them?

I'm sick of Israel, I'm sick of Iran. Let them fight each other, and if that means nuking each other to death so be it. The USA must lose its dependence on oil and develop alternative energies. We don't need to be fighting 2000 year old battles that have NOTHING to do with us.

I don't begrudge the fact that Israel has tried to make peace with the Palestinians in 99 and the Palestinians renegged, but we have no business being involved in an Israeli attack on Iran. And why do we have to be involved in everything? We need to be humble and recover from our recession, not over-extend ourselves Roman empire style.

No more wars. Israel is the one threatened by Iranian nukes. They can deal with it themselves.

Another note: Jewish people make up a tiny percentage of our population, yet have a HUGE influence on policy. This is a travesty. I'm not anti-semitic, but there's probably more Armenians living in America, and who cares what Armenians are advocating? And as for Mexicans... Wow, who's the pro-Mexican politician in congress? MAD is something you people will have to learn to live with. Like Americans, Russians, Pakistan, India, France, England....have been doing over 60 years. What makes you think your special? God?

Please put an end to this ridiculous campaign of disinformation consisting of one sleazy anonymous editorial on Iran per day. It is lowering this paper into disrepute and is insulting to the majority of its readers (who are for the most part educated and sensible people).

Everybody on this blog site are young and no nothing but what they read from false books. Stalin and Hitler were murdering monsters that allowed Hitler to start the madness of WWII. What saved Germany was Stalin's desire to rape all of Europe and then the USA, etc. If it were not for Stalin Germany would not exist today. You do not know the American soldier one day after combat. Iran never had a murdering dictator the likes of Stalin or Hitler. Iran dream of the Persian empire from western china to Spain, yeh to all of France and Hungary. Obama is a adolescent who lives in a world of fantasy. I warn the world that Israel is the Jews last stand. The rulers of Iran may be ready to commit suicide, I do not know. They are dealing the cards and the Jews of Israel will play the hand delt them be it two spades and two 8s.

I don't get it. Talk about the loss of a moral compass among people everywhere in this country and throughout the world. Israel is a tiny sliver of land that was granted to the Jews post-WWII at the same time that the so-called "Palestinians" rejected a similar grant for themselves. Jews have been living in this area of the world for centuries before Mohommed was a gleem in his father's eye. In fact, there was a time when Jews living in the area were known as "Palestinians." How things have changed with our media-government complex.

The Arabs have the overwhelming amount of land in the Middle East. The majority of Arabs in Jordan are former so-called "Palestinians." Jordan IS Palestine. But no, the crazies in the Arab-Muslim world don't want to absorb their own but rather to use them as pawns because of their insane hatred of Jews.

Telling Israel to disarm so that Iran has no reason to go nuclear (or, for that matter, telling the U.S. to disarm to achieve world peace) is like telling policemen everywhere to give up their guns and thus criminals everywhere will do likewise.

In retrospect, one of the best things that ever occurred was in 1982 (I believe) when Israel efficiently and without apology took out Iraq's nuclear facility. I suppose all you Israel haters despised that unilateral action at the time, but how do you feel about it now? Would it be a good thing if Hussein had been nuclear armed for the past few decades?

The poster who said Netanyahu was sounding a warning of what can happen not simply to Jews but to people everyone is, in my opinion, dead-on right. Meanwhile, our Fearless Reader and libs everywhere are suddenly shocked, shocked I tell you, at the sudden revelation that Iran has been building a second nuclear-enriching our Dear Fearless Reader has known about for months while simultaneously tryiing to engage the Iranians in negotiations. Guess the Mullahs just aren't into him that much.

Reality always gets the last vote. Unfortunately, many rational people sounding the alarm trying to ward off reality's harsh final vote likely will suffer and die, all because of the lack of moral courage on the part of their fellow humans.

Israel should do everything it can to defend itself. It has few friends in the world, as illustrated by some of the moronic postings in this blog.

Iran's mullahs should stand down and stop threatening others like the bullying cowards they are. Arabs and Iranians are big on talk, but it seems they always run away when faced with the consequences of their words.

Israel means business however, and when they designate someone as an enemy, that someone should watch out. Israeli drones, spies, and commandos methodically kill every such enemy that has been targeted.

While a direct military strike against nuclear targets within Iran would be very difficult, especially if the U.S. doesn't grant flyover in Iraq, you can be sure the Israelis are busily working to undermine the Iranian nuclear efforts. There have been some mysterious deaths of nuclear experts in Iran, and reports of sabotage, faulty equipment, and technical failures keep emerging. With thousands of ex-pat Iranian Jews in Israel who know the language and culture of their former, oppressive home, Israel has ample resources for infiltrating and destroying the nuclear project from within.

As for you nay-saying cowards here, posting from the safety of your anonymous keyboards, riffing on your age-old anti-Semitism and hating on Israel because it's the left wing fashion of the month--Israel is going to save your asses, though you will not recognize it or appreciate it.

Apocolypse? Yes. The West fails to recognize the motives of Ahmadinejad, the new-found terrorist Aziz or the Islamic day of prayer held in Washington this week. Most Westerners understand a day of prayer to be a "good" thing. What gets lost is the understanding of Islam by the ignorance of most of the Western world. Americans don't like bad news. They hide from it. We have heard Netanyahu beating the global drum for a year now about Ahmadinejad's march to nukes. We had three terror plots distrupted (due to information gained by the 'Patriot Act') on American soil just last week, all Muslims. We have a rapidly changing religious picture within our inner cities. 85% of American conversions to Muslim are due to the spread of Islam in our prisons and then to the streets. We have been misled by past and present Presidents about a gentle Islam. There is no such thing. "ALL" of Islam is radical and "Jihad" is 'required' by its prophet Muhammad. Those that can't stomach strapping a bomb to their bellies and blowing up the infadels are to support those who do. Don't believe me? Look back to every Islamic terrorist act. How many Muslims publicly condemned the act? The Muslim population is exploding in the Western world. Worse yet, is that we have a confused Muslim sympathizer (I'm being kind here) calling the shots in the White House. Apocalyptic? The evidence could not be any clearer. The enemy lives next door and the American trait of playing ostrich is sealing our fate. For those of you hold-outs that continue to hope the American Muslim terrorists are just a "radical" fringe, take a look at the 19 year old kid that parked a car under a Dallas skyscraper and then called the cell phone he believed would detinate the bomb inside. He's not 'just' radical....... he's Muslim mainstream.

Three things that the Myerson doesn't mention: The CIA has known about the Iranian's "secret" nuclear facility for several years; Not only have the Israelis known about this facility, but several articles about it have been published about it in the Jerusalem Post over the last couple of months. And, that Obama doesn't have the stones to militarily confront Iran.

Obama will continue to push useless sanctions against Tehran while the Iranians speed up their efforts to build their first Nuclear bomb and while they hurry to surround themselves with Russian S-300 missiles.

In the coming weeks, Netanyahu will be left with no choice but to attack Iran because of lack of real US action.

I couldn't agree more. Americans are voting "present" to the Islamic threat. There is no such thing as "moderate" Islam. Islam is a radical political system and not a religion as we in the West understand religion. Muslims are taught that, under Islam, non-believers must convert, become dhimmis (servants), or die. I have known many Arab Muslims and, as you say, they themselves did not have the ability to carry out terrorists attacks themselves but they supported them with their words and financial contributions.

America and the West need to put an immediate halt to any further immigration of Muslims into our countries and begin deporting any who outwardly support Sharia or who disavow our system of government. We should also make it exceedingly uncomfortable for other Muslims to want to remain here so that they begin leaving on their own.

Don't forget, this is America. We can't stop illegals from pouring over our southern border nor will we stop the immigration of Muslims. It's not our way. Freedom of religion, remember? This 'right' given by this country's Founding Fathers will hold true, even if there exists a religion that is 'designed' to eliminate all other beliefs. There will come a day in the very near future when this will become a huge, divisive debate in America. Unfortunately, Muslims are now being "homegrown". We have an angry population going into prison and a united terror group coming out. Nothing you or I say will stop what's unfolding before our very eyes.

Depending on your belief, this is either terrifying or enlightening. For me, it's both. I have kids. Their future is filled with the horrors of Jihadists and worse. The American dream was an illusion that is rapidly disappearing into the past. It's no longer important.

You're statement about Islam being a political movement is correct but don't be fooled, it's "absolutely" religious. All of Islam ties the two together. An Islamic nation will not be one without the other.

The world is being divided into belief groups. The only thing that matters from this point on is.... which side will you choose?

My feeling exactly.
So many posters willing to bomb Iran "FOR ISRAEL" is amazing but none of them suggesting the U.S. should re-start the draft, no deferments for men or women, or raise taxes to support a war on Iran.
Iran is in the middle of a political upheaval, The Mullahs in charge are losing their grip and Im-a-dinner-jacket is a blowhard with zero power.
GWB administration said Iran was many years away developing a nuclear bomb. The U.S. military told GWB and cheney nuking Iran was not an option.
Netanyahu is looking for more financial backing from the U.S. because the Israelis can't afford a war either.

Soo to repeat:
"Netanyahu, get back to us when Israel pulls back behind the green line."

I agree that Islam is very much a religion to its adherents, but it is equally a political system that is at odds with just about everything we value in the West. What stops us from putting an immediate halt to any further immigration of Muslims is the mental slavery of political correctness that forces us to say that all cultures and all religions are equally noble and good and that we can't render any kind of judgement on them. Just about everything that Islam embraces is antithetical to Western ways, ranging from their insane obsession with women's sexuality, their hatred and mistreatment of animals, particularly dogs, their equating of interest with usury, their robotic daily actions in which good Muslims must scrape their heads on the ground with their butts in the air five times a day and pepper all verbal interactions with rote references to Allah and Mohommed. Islam tells them which hand to use to wipe their butts with and which way to position themselves when they lie down to sleep. It tells them it's okay to lie to non-Muslims (infidels) in furtherance of Islam. It is a mental disorder, a 7th century way of looking at the world that eschews science and discovery and thinks statuary is evil as it is trying to do what only Allah is capable of doing.

Meanwhile, there are billions of them in the Middle East surrounding a tiny country whose existence the world sanctioned in 1948, obsessing in their hatred that a non-Muslim country dares to exist within their so-called sacred Muslim lands. I say, get over it! Stay in your 7th century Muslim countries, hanging young boys for fleeting homosexual experimentation or stoning women for being raped. You're free to be Muslims 24/7 as far as I'm concerned, as long as you're in your backward countries. Just stay out of the West where you don't belong. And don't even dream of another 9/11.

Your opening statement professes an educated man.

The blood flowing on the streets of Tehran comes from the oppression and brutality of its own illegitimate government and its suppression of the Iranian peoples' uprising. Sadly, it's the Iranian people that will suffer by the coming sanctions and fighting. The cruelty lies not with those threatened by Iran but with the heirarchy of Iran itself.

Thank you for endorsing my point of an angry population going into our prisons. Can I assume from your response that you are representative of this group?

The neocons are sick with rage now that Obama's punk job on Iran has revealed the Iranians for what they are, plus brought the Russians in for sanctions with the bargain, and setting up a much stronger position for the next stage of making Ahmadi look like a monkey and supporting the Iranian revolution. Of course Netanyahu (his father's original name was Mileikowsky, by the way-- more European and less Israeli-sounding, isn't it) wants desperately for the US to initiate hostilities against the Iranians, whether the nuclear issue is a valid pretext, or not.

On any level that you look at the problem, the Israelis absolutely cannot start a war with Iran, wrecking the world economy just as we are pulling out of the slump. Now Obama is very intelligently showing that brains will do better than brawn. We always knew that, we just didn't have anybody in charge recently on the first team intellectually.

What is the real threat of Iran and is that the issue, really? We know the war with Iraq was about oil: surrounding Iran with the objective of capturing the oil eventually. Unfortunately, getting rid of Saddam, Iran's biggest worry, was not particularly in Israel's interest. Does anybody really think that the Iranians, who have never directly attacked anybody (although their surrogates cause plenty of trouble) would try to drop nuclear weapons on Israel? Apparently, a lot of Israelis (to read Haaretz) think that idea is absurd on its face.

Just as the real issue for the US is oil, the real issue for the Israelis has to do with the future of the West Bank, Gaza, and ultimately, the kind of state Israel will be in the future. There are a number of Israeli positions, most noteworthy the Two State Solution on one side (which will never work), and on the other the plan to paralyze the Iranians so that the Israelis can finish the job on the indigenous population of Palestine by evicting them all into Lebanon, Jordan and Syria.

The longer this drags on, the more the Arab population of Greater Israel grows, and the harder they will be to kick out without creating an Arab genocide.

We are in a similar fix with our diplomatist smarty-pants President Obama. If we have to wait until Sarah Palin gets to be president before Bill Kristol can lead us to the oil, the rest of the world will have gone green, adopted alternative energy solutions, started building wussy little electric European cars and reorienting their entire economies toward climate friendliness, while we are still trying to figure out how to find cheap gas for the big truck.

Israel wants to move into a bigger country, while the US, if we want to keep burning gasoline, should be looking to move to a smaller one, without so many mountain ranges, deserts and praries. The Israelis have an advantage we don't have, however: their god does real estate, while ours only does derivatives and credit-default swaps.

The issue of Israel sits at the very apex of the fight to defend civilisation. Those who wish to destroy western civilisation need to destroy the Jews, whose moral precepts formed its foundation stones. The deranged hatred of the Jews lies at the core of the Islamists’ hatred of America, the ‘infidel’ west and modernity, and is the reason why they wish to destroy Israel. Unless people in the west understand that Israel’s fight is their own fight, they will be on the wrong side of the war to defend not just the west but civilisation in general

Netanyahu quoting Churchill is simply more evidence that Netanyahu is a witless yahoo.

This is Churchill on Jews:

“The part played in the creation of Bolshevism and in the actual bringing about of the Russian Revolution by these international and for the most part atheistic Jews ... is certainly a very great one; it probably outweighs all others. With the notable exception of Lenin, the majority of the leading figures are Jews. Moreover, the principal inspiration and driving power comes from Jewish leaders ... The same evil prominence was obtained by Jews in (Hungary and Germany, especially Bavaria).

Although in all these countries there are many non-Jews every whit as bad as the worst of the Jewish revolutionaries, the part played by the latter in proportion to their numbers in the population is astonishing. The fact that in many cases Jewish interests and Jewish places of worship are excepted by the Bolsheviks from their universal hostility has tended more and more to associate the Jewish race in Russia with the villainies which are now being perpetrated”.

~ from the Illustrated Sunday Herald - 8th February 1920.

There is also this:

"A historian has uncovered a pre-World War Two article Winston Churchill wrote about the persecution of Jews but then decided not to publish. In the long lost article, the British wartime leader disapproved of the treatment they experienced but did say of the Jews: "They have been partly responsible for the antagonism from which they suffer."

Bigotry - "stubborn and complete intolerance of any creed, belief, or opinion that differs from one's own."

If the belief offered above is in a man and regime that denies the murder of 6 million people during World War II and promises the annihilation of the remnants of those very people by way of a nuclear Holocaust, then yes, I'm a bigot. However, I believe that Ahmadinejad will make good on his threats and utilize his nuclear arsenal in an offensive manner to "wipe Israel off the map".

This, then discludes me from being a bigot and includes me in the growing number of nations and people that believe he'll not only do this but continue on through the Middle East, Europe and America. Even the other Muslim countries of Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Iraq fear this.

Murder your enemies, conquer and rule your neighbors and annihilate the Jews. I know of little else that is more representative and mirror-like than Iran when describing a Nazi-like society. The only thing that stopped the little country of Germany and its tyrannical leader was his lack of nukes, Ahmadinejad knows this.

So does Israel........

Israel's warning to the world will come in the next few days -- when as part of the Yom Kippur rituals, hundreds of thousands of orthodox Jews will wave a live chicken over their heads three times while reciting:

"This is my exchange, this is my substitute, this is my atonement. This chicken will go to its death while I will enter and proceed to a good long life, and peace." Then the chicken is slaughtered.

The purpose of the ritual? To transfer the misdeeds of the chicken waver to the chicken.

The ritual is called Kaparot.

Barbaric? Primitive? Most civilized people would think so.

Yes, Israel has nukes and the means to deliver them.

By Divine authority, Israel has ownership and the rights to land illegally occupied by; Egypt, Syria, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon and Saudi Arabia.

The people sacrificed by the Arabic world, known as the Palestinians are guests only on Israeli soil.

The terrorists that launch missiles from, then hide in civilian areas are the cowards guilty of war crimes upon their own people.

Iran is a danger to the world not by our own interpretation but by that of Ahmadinejad himself, "The era of oppression, hegemonic regimes, tyranny and injustice has reached its end... The wave of the Islamic Revolution will soon reach the entire world."

Two years later Ahmadinejad states, "We don't shy away from declaring that Islam is ready to rule the world."

I believe Hitler had similar ambitions.

Thank you for asking the West to pull their heads out of the sand. They need to wake up and recognize the danger to the world that Iran truly is.....

95% of contemporary Muslims are exposed to anti-Semitic teachings. every Muslim learns chapters from the Quran that those who have incurred divine wrath are the Jews, and those who are astray are Christians. What is more problematic is that the average person learns this chapter and its interpretation between the ages of 5-8. And we know that things learned at this stage of life become ingrained, almost to the point of being in one's DNA.

The Qur'an states at the very beginning of the second chapter "this is a book wherein there is no doubt, a guide for the God-conscious." Its contents are therefore to be seen by every Muslim as being divinely ordained, and to be followed. The verses on Israel as in 5:20-21 are not there just to be read; they are there to be followed. In Islam also, there is the elemental maxim "Calamity must be removed" (al darar yuzal). Muslms must face up to reality--in the years since Israel has been established, the focus of the region has been to seek to have it removed. And they have been unsuccessful, and there seems to be no hope for success. The pragmatic, proactive thing to do would be to come to grips with reality: Israel is there to stay, and it can exist in a state of peaceful coexistence, or in a stage of bellicosity. The Qur'an tells Muslims that God will not change their position until they change it themselves--and this is a classic example for putting that edict into effect. Only when MUSLIMS themselves accept Israel will they be following their Qur'an. Israel will negotiate from a position of guaranteed security, and while there may be tension from time to time, at least peace will be the norm

Well, now. If we were honestly impartial and objective we would look at the hard fact of Israeli's nuclear capabilities, its refusal to even sign the NPT; we would recall the purported scandal of illegal transfer of nuclear technology to Israel in the early 1950s (cited in Washington press reports) but never examined; we would honestly consider the views of Smauel P. Huntington and his thesis, "Clash of Civilizations"; our 1950s coup in Iran which established the Shah and out notions of "democratizing" an ancient civilization and culture and resulted in a debacle; of how our 'ally' Israel from the get-go played the Soviet card off on Truman and has been doing similar ploys ever since, inluding the USS Liberty incident, the assassination of Sweden's Count Folke Bernadotte; The 1920 Treaty of Sevres should have been followed through on with full international support to create a workable and fully democratic Palestine under international authority with full equality, freedom, liberty and justice for all regardless of race, ethnic origin or religious belief. That did not happen and we've now got one heck of mess - and not just 'we" but the whole civilized world....As Scrooge would say, "Bah, Humbug"

(To describe Israel's government as "democratic, efficient, reliable" simply shows your total ignorance of Israeli politics and of the composition of the government. The Deputy Prime Minister is not even of the same political party as the Prime Minister -- and ran against the Prime Minister for the Prime Minister's job.)

BTW, name one other "democratic" country where the party that comes second in the national election is the party that is asked to form the government.

"Democratic"? "Efficient"? "Reliable"? Total idiocy.

As for corruption, the trial of ex-Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Ohlmert started yesterday.

Allow me to give you a brief "Islam " The first thing you need to know about Islam is the importance of the book of the Quran. The Quran is thought ot be Allah's personal word, revealed by an angel to Mohammed, the prophet. This is where the trouble starts. Every word in the Quran is Allah's word and, therefore, not open to discus-sion or interpretation. It is valid for every Muslim and for all times. Therefore, there is no such a thing as moderate Islam. Sure, there are a lot of moderate Muslims. But a moderate Islam is non-existent.

The Quran calls for hatred, violence, submission, murder, and terror-ism. The Quran calls for Muslims to kill non-Muslims, to terrorize non-Muslims and to fulfill their duty to wage war: vio-lent jihad. Jihad is a duty for every Muslim, Islam is to rule the world by the sword.

The Quran is clearly anti-Semitic, describing Jews as monkeys and pigs..

The second thing you need to know is the importance of Mohammed the prophet. His behavior is an example to all Muslims and cannot be criticized. Now, if Mohammed had been a man of peace, let us say like Ghandi and Mother Theresa wrapped in one, there would be no problem. But Mohammed was a warlord, a mass murderer, a pedo-phile, and had several marriages at the same time. Islamic tradition tells us how he fought in battles, how he had his enemies murdered and even had prisoners of war executed. Mohammed himself slaughtered the Jewish tribe of Banu Qur-ayza. He advised on matters of slavery, but never advised to liberate slaves. Islam has no other morality than the advance-ment of Islam. If it is good for Islam, it is good. If it is bad for Islam, it is bad. There is no gray area or other side.

The Quran, as Allah's own word and Mohammed as the perfect man are the two most important facets of Islam. Let no one fool you about Islam being a religion. Sure, it has a god, and a here-after, and 72 virgins. But in its essence Islam is a political ideology. It is a system that lays down detailed rules for society and the life of every person. Islam wants to dictate every aspect of life. Islam means submission. Islam is not compatible with freedom and demo-cracy, because what it strives for is sharia. If you want to compare Islam to anything, compare it to communism or national-socialism, these are all totalitarian ideologies.

This is what you need to know about Islam, in order to understand what is going on in Europe. For millions of Muslims the Quran and the life of Mohammed are not 14 centuries old, but are an everyday reality, an ideal, that guide every aspect of their lives. Now you know why Winston Churchill called Islam the most retrograde force in the world, and why he compared Mein Kampf to the Quran.

It seems, a deep part in Arabs and Muslims culture, is not to take a self responsibility. Always someone guilty for all their problems and troubles .They are never guilty, always the victims.

Why should the rest of the civilized world tolerate threats from a country which has only 7.5 million people. If Israel launches an attack on Iran, we should shoot down their airplanes and take out the Dimona reactor where they have produced anywhere from 80 to 400 nuclear weapons.

"..righteous, angry, victimized fury"

Thats a pretty good summary of Israel's engagement with the the rest of the planet. Why do we have to be joined at the hip to such a nation?

We sure as hell don't need to sacrifice more US soldiers in Iraq when Israel overflies Iraqi airspace to start a war with yet another nation that is not a threat to the USA.

Supporters of Israel, how many more American soldiers are you willing to sacrifice for the nation to which your true loyalty lies?

Those would not be crazy numbers if Israel does strike. Not that you could care less.

The world is paying the price for its dependence on mid-eastern oil. As long as Iran has oil it knows nobody is ever going to stop its nuclear program. We have allowed ourselves to become hostages of the most despotic and brutal regimes. Instead of blaming Obama who has only been in office for 8 months the so-called supporters of Israel should look in the mirror. They supported the polices under Reagan and the two Bushs that rejected all energy conservation and alternative to oil as our prime energy source.

With eloquence and accuracy, you described Muhammad and the Qur'an.

In his address at the U.N., Netanyahu offered the world a similarly poignant vision of what will be.

“I believe...peace can be achieved,” said Netanyahu. “But only if we roll back the forces of terror, led by Iran, that seek to destroy peace, eliminate Israel and overthrow the world order. The question facing the international community is whether it is prepared to confront those forces or accommodate them.”

The forces of terror are Hamas and Hezbollah, the extended militaristic arms of Iran itself.

The call for the elimination of Israel is not the paranoid imagination of the Jewish nation but the continued rants of Ahmadinejad himself.

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad Sept, 2009. “They (the West) created the myth of the Holocaust. They lied to support the Jews. The pretext (for the Holocaust) for creating the Zionist regime (Israel) is a lie which relies on an unreliable and mythical claim. The occupation of Palestine territories has nothing to do with the Holocaust, and confronting the Zionist regime (Israel) is a national and religious duty.”

Netanyahu continues, "...and overthrow the world order." Since his election in 2005, Ahmadinejad has made numerous references in regard to Islam doing just that and ruling the world.

Most importantly is what Netanyahu said next, "The question facing the international community is whether it is prepared to confront those forces or accommodate them.”

The stage is set, there's a conflict coming. Either you believe in the practice of alternate religions and the freedoms of individual nations or you believe in the submission to and the globalization of..... Islam.

There is no alternate choice. Pick a side....

You're a hoot! Like Ahmadinejad would build and use only one bomb! His terror has much larger ambitions than you give him credit for... 5,000 - 10,000 American soldiers? If we don't stop him now, it'll be ALL of our American soldiers! I believe that number to be about 200,000 between Iraq and Afghanistan. They are on opposing sides of Iran and well within reach of his missiles.

Ahmadinejad was a fighting member of the Revolutionary Guard that was at war with Iraq for eight years. You think he has sentimental feelings for the Iraqis? Not a chance my Democrat friend.

I know, I know.... let's hold hands, dance in a circle and sing Kumbaya! If you close your eyes tight enough and repeat the phrase, "I wish I could, I wish I could.....

You completely missed the point. The 5-10K deaths would be inflicted by Iraqis many of whom have ties to the Iranian Shiite population. Perhaps you did not notice that the Iraqi Government that Iran was at war with is gone, and has been replaced by one led by Nouri al-Maliki whose ties to Iran are very close. You may have also forgotten that the main opposition party also has strong Iranian connections.

And that opposition which has refrained from attacking US forces of late, will no longer be so constrained if Israel strikes Iran.

I wish we could make the terror of the world go away too, but we keep giving Israel anything they want anyway.

Posted by: whyonker | September 26, 2009 7:14 PM | Report abuse

We're slowly getting to the "real" issue of this situation. This isn't another "rollover" version of the Iraqi or Afghanistan military foe. Iran's facilities are largely underground. So are our capabilities to reach them. Our arsenal contains tactical nuclear bunker busting bombs. The belief is that because they are of the tactical yield and the blast is largely underground, we could theoretically contain the fallout and keep to a minimum the above ground damage.

An attack on these type of Iranian facilities is exactly what these weapons were developed for.

Iran will probably negotiate with the U.N. and buy a little more time but rest assured, they have an agenda. Whether we go in to briefly slow their bomb making capabilities or wait until Iran has their own arsenal, the next couple of years appear to be horrific.

Our military is grouped and relatively isolated in the northern part of Iraq. Ahmadinejad might have a friendly in the hierarchy of Iraqi government but he'll think nothing of the collateral damage that may come with the opportunity of knocking out all of America's boots just across the border. He kills his own. What does he care about a few Iraqis? His purpose on earth and within Islam is to annihilate Israel and America. He believes, he's a few bombs away.

As for the writer getting "pissed" over $300 a barrel oil.... Really?

We're discussing the realities of nuclear Holocaust, the potential loss of nearly all of our American troups in the Middle East and the nuclear fist of Islam spreading around the world, possibly succeeding where Hitler failed - and you're worried about the price of a gallon of gas?

Let me set your mind at ease. Don't worry! When this all comes about, you'll have nowhere to go. Sleep well!

There is nothing illegal about Uranium enrichment plants. They have many peaceful uses including clean power generation. Furthermore, IAEA, whose rules (dictated by the US) apply only to certain countries but not others, has been notified by Iran prior to starting the facility. Of course, Obama-Brown-Sarkozy have to have an international distration to practice their tough talk and make people forget that they all robbed the tax payers and gave the money to the financial market gangsters.

One of the primary reasons our troops are in harms way is because the last Government of ours was staffed with people who have always seen Israel as if it were the 51st state.

In all of the discussions I've had, there's always been a single constant...the word "hate". That term is used toward the West, Israel and the Jews particularly. It's always used by Muslims.

Only in Islam is hatred taught and encouraged. Hate is capable only by those who are expected to kill for their god.

Contrary, although I'm willing to die for my beliefs, I'm not willing to kill another for theirs.

This is the only means (murder) that a Muslim is guaranteed entry into paradise.

Muslims hate Israel because its very existence denies the viability of Islam.

I can't blame you for your hatred. It's been driven into you all of your life. For you, there's no escape, no promise, no hope for an inner peace without becoming a murderer. Having to live that way would make me hateful too.

Within Islam, the promise of peace and the guarantee of paradise is a deception.

There seems to be no lack of sympathy if not outright encouragement that Israel should bomb Iran to stop their nuclear development. Well, I am not exactly opposed to the idea if only the proponents can visualize a plausible scenario how it will end after the first bomb is dropped.

It was easy for Cheney, Rumsfeld, and Bush to start the war on Iraq. But so many years later we are still trying to get out. Perhaps the Israelis can do it differently, and better, with their universal draft so there is no shortage, or at least abundent supply, of "boots on the ground" to occupy and "pacify" Iran?

Thank you for saying it but you could not be more wrong. Read up on Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Do your homework. Understand his desires and ambitions. Listen to what he says. He has no interest or care about the self-preservation of Iran or its people.

Ahmadinejad believes that by initiating a war and creating chaos in the Middle East, he will hasten the arrival of their savior, the Twelfth Imam, the Mahdi.

If you're going to debate these issues, get down off your Western civilization horse and read about the religion we're discussing. To Americans it seems reasonable that Iran would pursue nukes for deterent purposes. MAD (Mutual Assured Destruction) was the mode of deterence between the Superpowers during the cold war. Now, it's offensive.

Ahmadinejad and the Mullahs could not care less about deterence or the safety and well being of their people. They're killing them in the streets as we debate.

Ahmadinejad is building nukes for a reason..... to use them. He has stated, the end of the world will come in his lifetime. He believes this because he is determined to make it happen.

Don't take my word for it.... read.

Why is that if Israel has enemies, we are required to suffer?

Would you consider the fact that Israel is built on the ruins of over 350 Arab villages whose former residents are now in tightly controlled areas and whose daily life is controlled by an occupying nation?

And please save your breath by contending some that an "agreement" was reached between the Zionists and the Arabs wherein the Arabs would give up over half their land and give it to someone else who only owned 6%. Would you agree to such a thing? Even David Ben-Gurion understood that Israel was a colonial enterprise...

"Why should the Arabs make peace? If I was an Arab leader I would never make terms with Israel. That is natural: we have taken their country. Sure, God promised it to us, but what does that matter to them? Our God is not theirs. We come from Israel, it's true, but two thousand years ago, and what is that to them? There has been anti-Semitism the Nazis, Hitler, Auschwitz, but was that their fault? They only see one thing: we have come here and stolen their country. Why should they accept that? "

Ben-Gurion quoted From "The Jewish Paradox" by Nahum Goldman

In short since I am an American citizen as are the soldiers in Iraq, why should we suffer because the Israeli's have the enemies that come with such conquest and are arrogant enough to expect that they alone are exempt from the consequence of their actions?

I must conclude that you believe it is the duty of all Americans to sacrifice their children and the economy of this nation in the service of one tiny little country in the Mideast, since no other outcome will be forthcoming.

If the Israeli's strike and we suffer their will be hell to pay for those in this nation who acted as cheerleaders for that strike. We already know those same forces lied us into war in the first place.

And since you think we should all take a vacation in Israel, I invite you to live in Iraq with our troops when Israel strikes Iran.

Real Democrat

1. Israel offered quite a few times peace, Rabin, Begin, Sharon, and it was refused - why? Do they really want peace ?

2.I did not say every American should go help Israel, I said only those who open their mouth big, not knowing what it is to live the way Israel's public live.

3. I have served my country (israel) in the 67 war, and the 73 war, if you as an American will go to serve in the IDF, I will go to Iraq. Though because of my age, I don't see this happening.

4. We (Israel) have not taken their country, we got it by a resolution of the United Nations, they opened the 1948 war, they started the 1956 war, and they started the 1973 war. In 1967 Israel had no choice but to start the war, otherwise we would not have this conversation today.

5. To date, the Arab nations and or the Fanatics started every conflict that occurred since 1948, for them it is either they have it all, or go on with the fighting until there is NO Israel - it will not happen.

6. I am thankful to the American government, and the American public for their support of Israel for the past 60 years, I do not think or even dare to think that they should fight our war, it is OUR war and OUR problem, and when woman and children are the target of these fanatics, just like you went after those responsible for the 9/11, we go after these fanatics too, we can not be responsible that they hide within their population, so they can say we (Israel) killed woman & children. If things were the same in the US, what would you do ? just sit and let them ?

7. Last but not least - I know what will happen IF Israel attack Iran, I know where the economy will go, and all that will unfold with it.... BUT - would you suggest that Israel should just sit and wait for it's destruction? The rest of the world is not doing anything, how long before the big puff of smoke should we wait, and after the big boom, the world will again say "Oh sorry, we misjudged" and continue along, but my family will not be with me any longer, they will be DEAD.

You Americans in this article are, as usual, naive. Everyone living on the Black Sea knows the Shiite Iranians are using threats to Israel (of which 700,000 are Russians) to manipulate politburos in the region in order to establish a new all powerful Caliphate at the 'holy' city of Qum, Iran. The missles or mass destruction weapons being created there are 1200 mile range weapons designed to interdict the movement of oil and gas in the region, which including those in Russia amount to 70 percent of the world's supply. Controlling such energy controls the price and would give the Califate 200 billion Euros a year, allowing it to build shiite paramilitary forces all over the world. When the Americans go home, the forces of the Caliphate will follow them from Pakistan, Afghanistan, Turkey and Lebonen.

While it may be true that Bibi and the state of Israel are preparing to attack Iran, They make a grave error in thinking that force and belligerence will gain the peace every one in the world wishes the Middle East could attain. Far too many people will survive who will seek revenge. Or it may be speculated by Israeli military planners that survivors need to be severely hindered for centuries in order to prevent revenge attacks. Sound familiar?

Only by having a relationship based on mutual respect will people live in peace. No one, not the Israelis, nor the Iranians, is attempting to show this respect to each other, nor to the rest of the world by trying to attract partisan fervor from other states/peoples.

I learned in martial arts a long time ago that when you are faced with your bare hands and the hands of an opponent, you and they are just not that different. But when you break this relationship with guns and bombs, then it is possible to use propaganda to demonize an enemy and pursue an inhumane war.

My solution is to get rid of the nukes world wide, perhaps starting with our arsenal. While there are many who would scream that we leave our selves vulnerable, this is exactly the point. We would be just another people besides others of the world who are all looking for life, liberty and the pursuit of good curried eggplant.

If we are vulnerable we can no longer be arrogant and tell the Sadi Army to bring it on. Israel can no longer threaten Iran with "disarm or glow" rhetoric. Iran would not need nukes because she has the largest population from which to draw fighters for conventional wars.

Nukes were a game changer that permitted a growth in violence world wide. Americans of 1925 would not think of de-populating Iran because it could not be done. Now days it is almost obligatory to mindlessly mutter "just nuke 'em" when asked about Iran, Iraq, Korean People's Republic... The Western World thinks it can make war without limit. We can save our selves if we step away from nukes and other WMD. The world is not mature enough (see Bibi N.) to posses them, nor will we ever gain that maturity.

Good Riddance!

The US should immediately STOP sending aid, Military or otherwise to Israel.Let Netanyahu eat his anger. Where was he when Israel was building the Dimona and other nuclear facilities? Where was he when the guy who blew the whistle was jailed and then forced into exile, while Israel continued its denial of nuclear capacity? Their rush to get it, led to India and Pakistan's rush to get it, now China and Iran want it too. The only country in the world that voluntarily gave up its nuclear weapons was South Africa after Mandela took over and realized that these short range missiles were not a threat to India or South America, but were pointed at Black Africa. Africans remain the only ones without nuclear capacity.Every other major ethnic group has it. They will be there to replenish the world when the idiots in the Middle East finish blowing up their desert homelands. As long as Israel has nuclear weapons, we could forget Iran not wanting them.If I am armed with a digging stick, and you have a long range rifle with night scopes, we are not negotiating or fighting from the position of equals. Israel is a greedy, land grabbing European exploiter mascarading as a religious and pious state. That is a big lie. Actions speak louder than words. They should do a series of genetic tests to see who are the true people of the Middle East- the PAlestinian, Arabs and Persians would be found to belong there. The Russian Jews who invaded the place and now are buying up all the real estate in Brooklyn,NY belong somewhere else. I am not an anti-semite. I hate colonialism no matter where it rears its ugly head. In our American compassion for what we allowed our former ally Hitler, to do to the Jews, we have allowed said Jews to take advantage of us for sixty years. No more. Stop now. Let them stand on their own feet. Forbid American Jews to send money to Israel the way Palestinian Americans are restricted from sending money. Let us see how 3.5 million people will be able to continue to bully their neighbors. Do we dare take this step towards peace?

Israel must realize that if not Iran, then another Middle East country will challenge its military supremacy. Historically, trying to maintain superiority through force has never worked. Millions of Middle easterners are just waiting for the time when they can exact revenge on Israel for the damage that it has caused militarily.

Israel, for the sake of its future, must realize that the longer it drags out the inevitable the closer it drags itself to its own destruction. The reason why Iran is driven to develop advanced weaponry is because of Israel’s combative nature. Binyamin Netanyahu is a bully who became prime minister of Israel. Bullies like to bluster and posture threateningly when they cannot have their way.

In a world where apartheid type governing is frowned upon, Israel is allowed to practice this disgusting governance with impunity via the wink and nod of approval from America and the west.

As the Middle Easterners, led by Iran, become more sophisticated militarily, it is just a matter of time before even the power of Europe and the United States will not be enough to save Israel. Israel can save itself by opening its borders and living in peace with its neighbors. I recognize this as being a fantasy. Unfortunately so do many other Middle Eastern countries.

I stand with Israel. I pray that my country will do likewise.

1. They never agreed to peace, not even once. They produced a 20 page single spaced list of objections when Clinton tried. If Israel wants peace why do they keep bulldozing land and building homes for settlers? It sure can not be for "more secure borders" since every time they steal more land, they have even more enemies across the newly expanded border.

2. Israel 's public lives better than most people on earth, and a hell of lot better than people living in Gaza.

3. US troops are in harms way right now, in no small due to pro-Israel forces in the USA.

4. Thats a good deal huh? I mean if your the one getting something of course you will hold up your end of the deal, but if you are the one being robbed your going to fight. Thats why I have to laugh when people say "Israel did not choose to fight in 1948". Why would they? They got someone else to steal for them. If someone ever does figure out who the descendants of the Canaanites are, will you move out and give them your home if the UN says so?

5. Every war except for 73 was a war of choice by Israel.

6. You are kidding right? In order for things to be the same in USA, we would have to have a freshly displaced indigenous population of 300 million people living as second class citizens in our nation and in fractured residential Gulags where their every movement is controlled so we could maintain a state for one privileged ethnicity. That and have a sense of entitlement beyond all imagination.

7. I am certain of one thing If Israel attacks Iran, American will suffer, and the already dwindling support for Israel will turn to anger. Its true Israel's choices are bleak, but that her own fault. America does not have an infinite reserve of patience, and you are in a situation where you will never have anything but enemies for neighbors. There may be no good choices for Israel, but America can and will choose not to choose your side anymore, its just a matter of time.

It will benefit us all if we step back a bit and examine everything from a larger perspective. Go to and read the book that is posted there. You will see that the events that are taking place are documented as events that must take place in The Bible. The prophecies of the two witnesses have been identified and Israel is set to be severely impacted, but they will come back eventually. To put it plainly, Israel must be destroyed and then rebuilt to fulfill the plan of Jesus Christ.

Don't delay - your input is needed and required of some of you. Israel is the most religious country on the planet - stop looking at it in any other manner. You will just go far astray in terms of seeing what is really going on.

It's a little hard to listen to Netenyahu who is running one war against Gaza and Obama who is running three wars (Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan) warn about the dangers of Iran who hasn't invaded anyone or been in a war since Saddam Hussien with American backing attacked Iran in the 1980s. To my mind Obama finally realizes how badly he messed up with the bank bailouts. He now knows that the economy won't revive for the middle class like they said it would and doesn't want to take the heat for his own misguided decisions. Therefore he needs an excuse for why the economy was plunged back into depression. Ergo, gin up Iran as a threat, either let the Isralei's do something stupid or do it ourselves, watch oil go above $400.00 a barrel, watch the American economy shut down and then claim it was all Iran's fault. Oh great. I can hear it now, well the stimulus was working when all of a sudden adversity blah, blah, blah blah.
