Sheila Johnson condemns Gov. McDonnell

This just in: Sheila Johnson, billionaire co-founder of Black Entertainment Television who endorsed Gov. Robert F. McDonnell (R-Va.) just sent me the following statement on "Confederate History Month."

“I must condemn Governor McDonnell’s Proclamation honoring ‘Confederate History Month,’ and its insensitive disregard of Virginia’s complicated and painful history, the remnants of which many Virginians still wrestle with today. The complete omission of slavery from an official government document, which purports to be a call for Virginians to ‘understand’ and ‘study’ their history, is both academically flawed and personally offensive. If Virginians are to celebrate their ‘shared history,’ as this proclamation suggests, then the whole truth of this history must be recognized and not evaded."

She endorse his candidacy so she is getting what she asked for and deserves: to be insulted and demeaned by the one she helped. Satan does not reward his servants with heaven. It is naive of her to expect anything less from him.

Sheila Johnson reminds me of the old old Kenny Rodger's song
'It's a fine time to tell me, Lucille'

Sheila Johnson has already accomplished what she considered important to her financial well-being- the elimination of the estate taxes and the reduction of taxes paid by those very lucky few in the top marginal tax rates.

Meaningless gesture which is certainly no sweat off of Sheila Johnson's back on this one in condemning McDonnell's Declaration cost her nothing... and that is her bottom line.

Ms. Johnson, thank you for your frank statement. If Governor McDonnell wants to end this controversy right now, he can change the proclamation to "Civil War History Month," and I would support him. However, he has chosen only one side in this dispute, and the wrong one at that. "Confederate History Month" reminds me of the racist code words used in the 1960s.

I urge everyone to write to the governor, a heinous human being. See this blog post on how to do it quickly and easy. Virginia isn't for Lovers now, It's For Racists. On that note, spend your money elsewhere this vacation season until this insulting proclamation is torn up and burned along with the Confederate flag.

Yeah sure, Sheila, you and Doug Wilder. Where the heck were you when we needed you during the campaign? Giving your support to the other side is where you were.

A black woman finding her moment of fame...

a pretty lousy platform.

An omission? Give me a break.

She's just putting this statement out there to get in front of the story before someone points out that she endorsed someone who embraces the fact that there state fought to protect slavery.

She sold her soul for perks and kickbacks... hope it was worth it.

So BET, the network of thug&jiggle sexist music videos is upset some guy forgot to mention slavery? Sheila, honey, your network forgot too. In fact, the last major educational program I recall from her network was...1990, on AIDS in the black community. Now, they repeat Wendy Wig-Fiend Williams. No wonder she endorsed McDonnell.

Which goes to prove that wealth is no proof of intelligence. Perhaps she is by now already rethinking her suppoirt for this bigot and circle of likes.

Virginia is now for LOATHERS. I'm boycotting Virginia until the racist fetal idolators are kicked out.

Just goes to show that money doesn't equal brains. Dear Sheila, you helped this idiot get elected, way to go. Apparently you are as traiterous and treacherous as some of the folks this Governor would have us honor.

I grew up in a county that seceded from the confederacy after the state seceded from the union so maybe my view is skewed, but White Southerners in attempting to romanticize an era in history veered far away from historical accuracy. Like any war, the war between the states was fought over money and power. Historians concur that there were as many in the South that opposed slavery as there were in the North. Think about it. The average white southern citizen wasn't a rich plantation owner with slaves and were limited in their ability to make a living due to the work being done by slaves. The South was composed of a few very wealthy planters but the majority lived short lives in dire poverty. Industry in the North provided an economic middle class that didn't exist in the South. Hence, the individuals residing in the county in Mississippi where I grew up decided they just didn't have a dog in the race and refused to fight for either side. They had actually gone to the state Capitol to opposed secession from the union but were told they were too late so they just seceded from the confederacy.

What did Virginians expect when electing this graduate pf Pat Robertson's Regent University?
When people show you who they are-BELIEVE THEM!
McDonnell and Ken Cuccinelli are boldly marching Virginia BACK to 1850!

Some of us worked very hard to get a Democrat in office but not enough Dems turned out to vote because they thought Deeds was too GOP lite. This is proof that GOP lite is better than GOP Regent University. That place is a Christian madrasa. Sheila must think we all have very short memories. Thanks a big f---ing lot for throwing your $$$ at this guy, Sheila - don't even try to distance yourself now. I saw a post elsewhere that said it best - you lay down with the devil, you're gonna get burned.

The post by Xcintcat is right on the money! My North Carolina held out on secession until the last minute when we were surrounded by rebel states. Still, our then governor was opposed to the rebellion. More than 10,000 North Carolinians fought for their country, the USA. So, when rebel flag-wavers spout on about "us and them" they need to be careful about who the "us" is, i.e., include me out. The clueless VA gubbenator certainly does not represent all southerners; it's just that the rebel flag-waving bible thumping, teabagging loud mouths have fooled him into thinking he does. I hope this hornet's nest he has gratuitously stirred up will educate him about what his real constituency consists of. May God save us from the hubris and bigotry he practices and sucks up to.

Mrs Johnson is the typical house servant. Massa was elected thanks to her undying loyalty. In return she was flogged. Lucky for her she is female otherwise a castration would have followed. Hail to old Virginy.

So, Sheila do you still think he is a moderate? And not just for this. I always wanted to ask you why you thought he was so "intelligent". I don't think it was very intelligent to get your law degree from an unaccredited college (Pat Robertson's school for the anachronistic).

Please send this message to Gov. McDonnell and Ms. Johnson,

My family, friends, and I will not be visiting VA this August as we have done for the past 15+ years to attend a bowling tournament. Our hard-earned tourism dollars will be spent only in PA and NY at other tournaments. Most years we have a caravan of 15+ cars of folks traveling from NJ to these tournaments. I will continue to boycott VA until it becomes all-inclusive in its ways.

I wonder how many people here and others had families who were, in any way, involved in the War Between the States.

In our politically correct jihad against anything and everything not proper and creased, we tended forget any aspect of blood and sacrifice that has brought us all to this vaulted sense of superiority and over-inflated hubris.

What a poor person she is. Truthful says she never owned a slave, never knew anyone who did or will own a slave. She is a person the word POMPASS was made to describe poor people with a waffle for a brain. My wife teaches elementary school, a seven year old girl asked my teacher why is Feb. called black history month, a young boy yelled out that his dad said because the other eleven months are for white people. This is the sick situation politicans have put our country in, they do not try to teach history, their liberal and now socialist supervisiors now reguire them to rewrite history...they will do as they always have in the long run...fail.

Had a trip planned for May 9th to 16th to virginia to visit friends, but I have cancelled it thanks to the governor. I am an African American and the governor has made me feel like I am not welcome in the state. I will not visit that state ever again, unless that state elect someone who doesn't want to bring slavery back. The governor should be ashame. I am sure the people of his state is ashame of him.

It's simply amazing how Southern whites can not, and never have accepted the fact that the final outcome of the Civil War was utter defeat for their cause. Their cause was the continuation of the enslavement of human beings; that's it; everything else that they use to white wash it over with is simply untrue. The South chose to succeed from the United States of America in order to perpetuate and keep slavery alive; leaving the Union by force of arms and insurrection; it's called "treason." Slavery or enslavement of humans beings is the greatest evil known to man. Even after their crushing defeat, they continued slavery in other insidious forms called "Jim Crow and segregation," The biggest mistake we as a nation made following the war was to let these villainous cowards back into our Union. And yet they want to memorialize the Civil War! Do we honor Hitler and the Nazis for what they did to Europe and the Jews? Look at these Southerners today, have they changed? No; do they love our country no? Do they still believe in segregation, slavery, and of course "Jim Crow?" Of course they do! It's in their genes; anger, hate, jealousy, and a huge inferiority complex. Their only use for African-Americans is entertainment, and house cleaning. They do everything conceivable, and in their power to keep blacks down no matter what. However, here's one of the greatest hypocrisy's of it all; they can't win at football, basketball, baseball, or track-in-field without blacks; seventy plus percent of their teams are composed of blacks. In just the last 5 years do you think Florida, Alabama, or LSU would have won a national championship without blacks? Everyone with even half a brain knows the answer to that; it's NO! What would Kentucky or North Carolina basketball be without black players? Nobody, that's what, and the real good black players turn pro within a year or two. Do you think they have any love to live in place where their just pawns in a game? Get real! Tim Tebow is just an average white boy playing football at Florida; not even worth a high place in the NFL draft. He would have never won stink without the black players at Florida; that's a fact. But gosh; with those unrecognized black players he's turned into a Southern white God; even awarded the Heisman trophy; there's a joke! Lot's of Southern white money given to the right people can get you just about anything, even national championships; you think? Well my fellow bloggers, it's time to "get real." Call a spade a spade; racism is still very much alive a well in the "good old South."

Sheila's Salamander Inn Webb Site press room in Middlebrrg, VA talks about "freed black people" and only a two word reference to slaves in Middleburg. She doesn't even mention there were slave quarters on the site of her Spa and Resort. OMG!

Shelia Johnson is living on a plantation property where slaves lived and all she talks about getting a luxury bath at her spa and only has pictures of white people and talks about visiting wineries. What a pathetic person!

I live in Virginia and have for a long time. I am originally from the Northeast. Let me tell you that not all Southerners - (those born to the land or those transplanted) are racists. If you think so then you are prejudging all of us and that's prejudice. Growing up in the Northeast I met plenty of racists there, so don't get so high and mighty - racism occurs everywhere AND did during the Civil War. History - the draft riots of the Irish in New York City. One reason - racial. That doesn't mean all Irish are racists. Racism comes in all colors and nationalites.
