Janet Jackson's Trying to Fool Us

"I will cancel this many more shows on this tour!"

So you tell us: Does this series of events seem at all suspicious to you?

First, we get e-mails telling us that Miss Janet - who isn't exactly the most media-friendly artist in pop - will be available for a one-on-one interview to promote her current Rock Witchu Tour, and, in turn, her newish album, "Discipline." Which, by the way, has sold fewer than 500,000 copies in eight months. Which is a weak number even in this era of depressed album sales. (No, that's not a Bright Eyes reference.)

This after J. Freedom got himself blacklisted by Janet's camp after writing this piece in 2006.

Then, last weekend, Janet canceled her Detroit concert for, uh, "production constraints." (This from the same people who brought you "wardrobe malfunction.")

And last night in Montreal she "got suddenly ill" before the show and it was canceled.

So what's next? A show canceled "due to lack of advertising funds"?

Maybe the album hasn't sold well because her fans have been mistakenly purchasing King Crimson's "Discipline"......"The more I look at it, the more I like it"....

Sounds like her show hasn't been selling. Considering the price is aproaching the territory of The Eagles, and she aint no Eagles, I'm not suprised. 130 bucks is a lot to ask.

Then again, AC/DC sold out places chaging about 100 for every seat in the house so maybe it's just her.

Janet is and will always be an incredible performer and artist. My only hope is that her show in DC will not be cancelled.
