Fleet Foxes Explained

Overheard last night in Food for Thought, a half hour or so before Ra Ra Riot took the stage at the Black Cat:

One girl, a few years out of college I'd guess, talking to (well, more like at) her friend:

"I haven't had a band crush since I was, like, 13. But do you know this band Fleet Foxes? It's really good music to fall asleep to. Or to take someone into the forest and make out to."

So there you have it. If you were wondering who snagged all the tickets for the harmony-driven folk rockers' two sold-out Black Cat shows over the past couple months, now you know.

The real gem of the conversation came a few minutes later, when the same young lady said: "You know, I'm really going to stop dating former frat guys." (For the record, last night's show didn't seem like the best place to start on that quest.)

It's as if the 18-25 year olds suddenly discovered this thing called CSNY and this other crazy thing called harmony.

Also, I would like Ra Ra Riot twice as much if their album was called the Rhumba Line.
