Best of 2008: Top 10 Albums and Singles

The Village Voice set today as the ballot-submission deadline for its annual Pazz & Jop Critics' Poll, which meant I finally had to get my Top 10 singles list in order. I had about 60 songs under serious consideration for the 10 slots, and beyond the top two, it became a game of coin flips. Which is to say that if I did it over again, and then again, my lists probably wouldn't look anything alike.

Here are my Top 10 singles and albums lists, along with the Top 10s from David's Pazz & Jop ballot. (Or so we think: David couldn't quite recall the order of his rankings. "I might have messed up one or two," he says. "But this is close enough.")

I can't believe you excluded Cut Copy's "In Ghost Colours" from your lists! The "Far Away" single will kick you right outta your chair!
