I Can Has Cupcake

Huge IMP announcement today!

No, silly, it's not about the 2009 edition of Virgin Mobile Festival that doesn't yet exist on our calendars.

It's about the 9:30 Club Specialty Cupcake, which is coming soon to a V Street NW music venue near you because, you know ... nothing says "ROCK-AND-ROLLl!!!!!" quite like a trendy designer pastry!

But really, who doesn't love cupcakes? Even Malitz eats cupcakes. (And he's generally anti-food, with the exception of pizza, bagels and pizza bagels.)

Cupcakes are as universally beloved as the vibraslap -- which is clearly why the 9:30 Club Specialty Cupcake will be introduced at this weekend's sold-out, vibraslap-happy Cake concerts.

During the Let Them Eat Cupcake promotion, every Cake ticket-holder will get a coupon good for one of the cupcakes.

Created by pastry chef Josh Short (Buzz, Vermillion, Tallula, etc.), they consist of a Devil's Food chocolate cupcake filled with vanilla butter-cream, topped with chocolate frosting, dipped in ganache, with a 9:30 logo on top, per the IMP propaganda. They'll sell for $3 at the club's food window and mezzanine coffee bar. Oh, and they'll be delivered fresh daily. Sweet.

Bets on first person to get hit with a cupcake? I have 1000-1 on that bouncer who gets profiled every year or so for looking all mean and all.

Between my friend's wedding with an open bar earlier in the day and the free cupcake at the concert, Saturday is gonna be the best day.

Also, Snapper24, that would be Josh, one of UMD's finest alums.
