Virgin Festival Predictions? Sure, Why Not?
Saw this come across the Twitter feed today:
thesonicyouth at in Vancouver July 26 @ Virgin Fest. info at sonicyouth..com
I was all, "Sonic Youth are not very careful typists" and then I thought, well if the alt-rock godfathers are playing one of Canada's 239 V-Fests, maybe they'll play the one that's happening somewhere down here, at some point, with some bands?
It's not all that likely -- after two shows at the 9:30 club in July, it's hard to imagine they'll be much of a draw just a month or two later. But you never know. And it gives us a chance to predict a few more bands to add to our original list. (Franz Ferdinand, Public Enemy, Booker T w/DBT, MGMT, Vampire Weekend, for the click-averse.)
Ben Harper and the Relentless7
Prototypical festival band with a long history of playing I.M.P. shows, fresh off a spring sellout at the 9:30 club.
The band is doing the festival circuit this summer, hitting Sasquatch, Bonnaroo and Lollapalooza, with a relatively empty rest of the schedule. Kevin Barnes sure knows how to go over-the-top, so his act would be ideal for a festival setting.
It seems like the festival will be at Merriweather Post Pavilion. How can the local(ish) band that named its breakthrough album after the venue not play?
New album just out, skipping D.C. on this tour, but playing an I.M.P. show up in Baltimore in July. A much, much, much better Epitaph legacy pick than the Offspring last year.
Why not? Wait, don't answer that.
As always, chime in with your thoughts, predictions, wishes, complaints, theories on what is wrong with Francisco Liriano.
