Merriweather Hosts Halloween Costume Contest!

Halloween is almost upon us and local concertgoers are getting into into the spirit. Last night at the 9:30 club, we saw not one, not two, but three fans dressed as John Oates. (Perhaps Daryl Hall's Halloween humbugging on Post Rock yesterday kept his impersonators at bay?)

We certainly don't expect to see Hall tomorrow when the masked masses invade Merriweather Post Pavillion for MTV's Ulalume Festival -- a Halloween concert featuring performances by Paramore, AFI, Dead By Sunrise, Asher Roth and Kid Cudi. (MTV will be filming the gig, which is set to air next week.)

Merriweather will also host a costume contest with a doozy of grand prize: $2,500 and a pair of lawn seats to every Merriweather concert during the 2010 season. Second place takes $500, third takes $100. And remember finalists, the gentlemen of AFI (pictured) will be taking the stage after you. They've recently eased up on the guyliner, so upstaging them just got wayyyy easier. Good luck!

(Contest details, after the jump)

Participants must report to the costume sign up tent, located at the top of the lawn at the edge of the venue's carnival area before 6:45 pm. Contestants must be at least 18 years of age or have a parent or legal guardian present. Costumes will be judged for creativity and participants will need to provide their cell phone number. Three finalists will be alerted by text message during the show and will be brought on stage after Dead By Sunrise's performance. The audience will pick the winners.
