Long Look at Resistance: Fall of Man

Just left the Sony PS3 booth where I had a behind-closed-doors meeting with Ted Price of Insomniac Games, who game me and three other people a one-hour walkthrough of Resistance: Fall of Man.

The game takes place in an alternate 1951 universe in which World War II never occurs. Instead there was an alien invasion that wiped out the whole world except for England. In this world, for once the Americans come over to save the day and get wiped out. You play a lone American soldier teaming up with the British to resist the final alien assault. It's Call of Duty meets "Aliens" with some "Starship Troopers" thrown in.

This was one of the most impressive PS3 games on display at the booth. It may come as a surprise to gamers that Insomniac is doing an FPS title, since they own the popular family-friendly Ratchet and Clank
series. But Price reminded me that they debuted with the shooter Disruptor back in 1994.

By the way, Ratchet and Clank fans will be able to play a PS3 version of that franchise next year.
