The Paris Event
So, I just came from the Paris Hilton appearance on the show floor. Amid a crush of reporters, photographers and fans, she emerged in a green dress to sign autographed cards for her upcoming mobile game from Gameloft, alternatively reported in the media as either "Paris Hilton's Jewel Jam" or "Paris Hilton's Jewel Case."
In the short greeting she spoke to the audience, she thanked them for coming out to support "Diamond Quest" and sat down at the table to begin signing cards.
But I've got to admit, I can see where the celebrity element comes from. Tall, beautiful, poised and glamorous enough to be an idol, she handled her crowd well.
Oh, Paris, Paris, where were you? (The subject line of an e-mail sent out Wednesday read: "DON'T MISS THIS E3 CELEBRITY APPEARANCE.")
The heiress is a multi-tasker, very Trump-esque. She's got a book, a perfume and now video game -- to be precise, a cell phone game. The game is a simple match-this-jewelry-with-that-jewelry kind of thing. And the heiress arrived about 30 or so minutes late, worrying the irritable PR peeps on deck. When Paris finally showed up, photographers in a frenzy of course, she mangled the name of her own game and called it "Diamond Quest." (No one dared correct her.)
For a few minutes, Paris, in a green miniskirt and red pumps, got to be an E3 Booth Babe, and I gotta say I've seen better.
