iPhone. Worth It or Not?

OK - I know you're probably growing tired of iPhone coverage. But I just had to share the news. I finally had a few minutes to play with one. Ooooh.

Our own technology columnist Rob Pegoraro brought his demo unit into the office this week that he used to hammer out his review for this morning's Fast Forward column.

Rob Pegoraro plays with the iPhone during a taping of this week's Tech podcast.

What I like best about Rob's reviews is that I know he's not afraid to point out the down sides of new products. Oh sure, Apple's iPhone has been getting rave reviews. But when Rob joined us in the studio for a taping of the technology podcast this week, I couldn't help but ask him what was missing and what he was hoping to see in iPhone version 2.

Take a listen to what he had to say by tuning in to the podcast on iTunes or visiting the podcast page on washingtonpost.com. It's also worth checking out some of Rob's first impressions of the iPhone on his own blog, Faster Forward. And be sure to check out his iPhone review. He'll also host an online discussion today at 2 p.m. ET.

I just have to say it: putting aside those who can readily afford a PHONE costing $500.00- who in his/her right mind should spend that kind of money for a tiny screen, lousy sounding music player, small keys device that is basically just, are you ready, a TELEPHONE?

Who in the right mind? About 700,000 people in the first few days of the iPhone's release...
