SunRocket Sells Assets

The company handling the "wind-down" of SunRocket said last night that TeleBlend, a small Internet-phone service company based in Maine, has entered an agreement to acquire certain strategic assets of the Vienna company that went out of business last week.

TeleBlend is backed by a company called USA Telephone whose main business has been providing traditional local and long distance phone service. USA Telephone recently joined forces with another firm, Unified Communications Corp., to offer an Internet-phone service, but hasn't yet rolled it out on a large scale. BIll Fogg, CEO of USA Telephone, told me in an interview that the company saw SunRocket's flameout as an opportunity to acquire a larger chunk of the Internet-phone market. By acquiring SunRocket's software and hardware assets, customers will be able to transition more easily to another service.

TeleBlend's Web site is new and caters only to SunRocket customers for the time being. Fogg said. The company said it also signed agreements with some of SunRocket's carriers to keep the service going for two more weeks so some of the 100,000 former SunRocket customers still on the network can get service.

But that won't last long. Fogg is urging everyone to find a new service provider, which he hopes will be TeleBlend. By early August, TeleBlend will start selling to customers outside SunRocket's subscriber base.

How can you trust a company that pops up after 2 days of SR demise? They also got our information even before we said yes to their service...was that even legal?

Yeah, yeah, I'm looking at Whois data for Teleblend: Their domain was registered on 17-Jul-07. So these guys registered their domain two weeks ago and you're expecting me to trust them? I'd better switch to somebody who has been on the market long enough. From what I've found out after looking through the Internet is that Lingo, ViaTalk and JoiPhone are also highly capable of quickly transferring SunRocket phone numbers. All of them have special promos for ex-Sunrocket customers. ViaTalk for example has a 3 month contract buyout for ex-SR customers and two phone lines for the price of one.

I have been a Sunrocket customer for 12 months out of 15 promised months. On 7/22/07 my phone service was turned off. I signed up with Vonage the same day. Up to today Sunrocket has not transfer my phone number. I can only call out but can not receive calls. I am practically in phone hell. Sunrocket is holding my phone number hostage. Is this how you treat a customer?

I alreay did all the research on many companies, I found a great company called VIATALK They offer a plan $199 a year for unlimited calling, just like sunrocket and they will give you in addition to the plan they offer you, up to 6 months free service , only if you were a sunrocket customer.

for example , if you sign up for their service for $199 a year and had been a customer of sunrocket and you had 4 months left on your sunrocket plan.. they will give you 4 months free

In my opinion, Lingo offer comparatively better services to VoIP users. They are now offering good deals for SunRocket customers, including one month free, free shipping, free activation and free equipment. They have some flexible and unlimited-minute calling plans to make hassle free calls in Western European countries. Though SunRocket, in their email, directed its customers to Teleblend and Packet8, but they cannot be better options for them. Being an ex-customer of SunRocket, I searched vastly on the net to find the best. I don't want to take a chance again. I think Lingo is better these days with their new plans. They have comparatively low international calling rates and have a wider coverage over the Western Europe. They have fine plans for home and business users.

All SunRocket(SR) Customer,

I was a SR customer, as I understand that SR played a bankruptcy game to the customer, it looks that they planned this game when they had a promotion for 199/yr plan, they rubbed the balance money on each contract from the customer, TeleBlend(TB) takes over everything from SR except contract, they just changed the company name from SR to TB.

Do you have any idea to handle this issue, it is not a small issue, it is a big,big,big, huge issue, it is related to 200,000 customers

We have to ask government to protect us to have it in fair, where is the government? where is the policeman? where is the lawyer? where is our congressman? did they know the issue or not?

Listen people: please do not go around and vaste your time,just buy Vonage for $25 per Month and stop empthi searching. investing money in advance like $199 per year is a stupiditi, go to Vonage and you're set for life.

As the matter of my business, I switched to Lingo when I heard about the SunRocket bad situation. Unlike SunRocket, it works really well. For my $49.95 Home Office 2000 Plan, I get more service than what I expect.
