Testing Nintendo's New Controller

To show off its games for the E3 trade show this week, Microsoft has rented out an entire hotel, the Viceroy, and decorated this ritzy place with throw pillows emblazoned with an outline of the Xbox 360's
controller.

Mike Musgrove tries one of the new Wii controllers.

This is the part of E3 that I like--the part where I actually get to play some video games.

So far today, I've gotten some hands-on time with a bunch of games, such as Guitar Hero III and some titles designed to work with Nintendo's new controllers.

The most lasting impression I'll have of the morning so far is of trying out the new Nintendo pad, which uses a player's balance as a way of interacting with the game. In one game, soccer balls get lobbed
at your character's head and you have to dodge them, by moving in the real world, to keep from getting conked in the head.

So far at the Viceroy, I've gotten some looks at games like PGR4. I'd tell you more, but I'm scheduled to get a look at Halo 3, um, right this second. Eek!
