Slinging Media Around Still Pleases The Crowd
Two years ago, Sling Media -- one of that year's biggest hits -- had a small booth at this show. Now the company, which was recently acquired by Dish Network's parent company EchoStar, had a pretty impressive display that always seemed to be crowded.
Sling Media became known for its SlingBox, a device that lets you control your TV with your computer. Now the company is touting its SlingCatcher, which can pull content from the Internet to a TV and also stream video from
one TV to another. The SlingCatcher had been promised at last year's show, but the company said it will definitely come out this year.
The company's SlingPlayer Mobile works with the SlingBox to stream live TV to a mobile device. Of course, you need a device that can handle video and that can reach a pretty good broadband connection.
