Can't Live Without Your DVR?

You're apparently not alone.

More than 70 percent of digital video recorder (DVR) owners say they cannot live without the devices, according to a survey of 1,000 DVR owners conducted by NDS, a subsidiary of News Corp.

The survey found that over 60 percent of DVR owners with a partner felt that having a DVR had improved their relationship. Who knew your TiVo could double as a couples counselor?

Owners ranked the DVR as the second-most essential household technology item, behind the mobile phone. They ranked it as the third most indispensable household item, after the washing machine and microwave oven.

And I thought the coffee machine was pretty revolutionary...

While I'm sure the use of the term "live" is hyperbole, I know that while I was on vacation and didn't have my tivo I refused to watch any tv, it was too painful to have to be ready at a given time and sit through commercials.

Watching sports without a DVR is excruciatingly painful. Won't do it. Those commercials will drive you insane!

They'll take away my DVRs when they pry them from my cold, dead hands (as well as those of my wife and kids).

Heck, I'd give up my mobile AND my coffee maker before I gave up my DVRs!
