Undefeated O'Connell Faces Stiff Test
Running backs Greg Gadell and Josh Trimble have helped O’Connell to a 3-0 start, but the Knights face a much more formidable challenge Saturday when they host No. 2 Good Counsel as Washington Catholic Athletic Conference play begins this weekend.
Gadell, a senior, has rushed for 188 yards and four touchdowns. Trimble, a junior, rushed for 119 yards and one touchdown in this past week’s 35-6 victory over St. Mary’s Ryken and also returned the opening kickoff 95 yards for a touchdown, his second kickoff return for a touchdown this season. He also has an interception return for a touchdown.
Defensive end Michael Katz has led a defense allowing 10.3 points per game; he had 14 tackles in a 29-25 victory over St. Albans on Sept. 12.
O’Connell’s first three opponents, however, are a combined 1-8. Good Counsel, which has won 19 consecutive regular season games, presents a much bigger challenge.
“They look pretty good,” said O’Connell Coach Steve Trimble, Josh’s father. “We will see where we stand.”
