The 6-3 Buchanan averaged 15.8 points per game as a junior and totaled 11 points, 21 rebounds and a Virginia AA tournament record 10 blocks in the final.

Here's the press release from Freedom Athletic Director Matt Oblas:

The Freedom Athletic family would like to congratulate senior basketball players Kelsey Buchanan and Jessica Escorza for their NCAA Division I basketball scholarships. Kelsey has committed to the University of Delaware and Jessica has committed to Wofford University. Both players will enroll at their respective schools in the fall of 2010. These two athletes become the second and third female basketball players to receive a NCAA Division I full scholarship in the history of the Freedom girls basketball program. This is the first time in Freedom Athletic History that multiple athletes have committed to a NCAA Division I scholarship on the same team at the same grade level. To honor this historic achievement the Freedom girls basketball team will be hosting a signing day on Friday November 13th at Freedom High school in the back of the library at 4:15 p.m. Refreshments will be available after the signing ceremony. All are encouraged to attend this event as we celebrate the achievements of these two young ladies.
