In this week's edition of The Player's Lounge, South County defensive back Andre Simmons and quarterback Aaron Andrews join The Post's B.J. Koubaroulis to talk about the Stallions' playoff win over Westfield and tonight's match up with W.T. Woodson.
Simmons, a 6-foot-1, 195-pound senior defensive back who has committed to Vanderbilt, came into the season with eight Division I offers, from schools like Rutgers, Boston College, Vanderbilt, Northwestern, Virginia, Maryland and West Virginia.
Simmons has been a season-long in-season All-Met and leads the Stallions into Friday night's Virginia AAA Div.6 regional semifinal against top-seeded W.T. Woodson (10-1). It's a rematch of Woodson's 35-0 win two weeks ago.
Andrews is a quarterback who got hurt during the Stallions' 7-6 loss to Annandale, but has steadily improved after returning to action midway through the season. He threw a game-winning touchdown pass in last week's 27-23 victory over Westfield to extend South County's season.
The Player's Lounge is a segment on The Fairfax Sports Report -- a weekly television show that broadcasts on Cox, Comcast and Verizon FIOS and features some of the area's top preps reporters, including B.J. Koubaroulis of The Washington Post, Paul Frommelt of The Fairfax Times, Phil Murphy of DigitalSports.com and host and producer Monika Moore. The show airs Wednesdays at 10 p.m., Thursdays at 7 p.m. and Friday's at 2 a.m. on Channel 10.
