Fairfax's Lauren Burford to sign with Villanova
Just got a note from Marcus Konde, the girls' basketball coach at Fairfax High School. Senior Lauren Burford, the team's leading scorer and an honorable mention All-Met pick last winter, will sign with Villanova University on Friday.
As a 6-foot-1 junior, Burford averaged 23.6 points per game while leading Fairfax to its highest win total in five years. She was tabbed as an All-Concorde District and All-Northern Region selection. Burford transferred to Fairfax from St. John's, where she was an honorable mention All-WCAC selection in 2008.
A year after finishing with one win, Fairfax went 6-16 this past winter.
