New girls' lacrosse coach at South County
South County has hired Sarah King to succeed Liz Schaffner as its girls’ lacrosse coach, seven months after Schaffner nearly led the Stallions to their first-ever Patriot District title.
King was Centreville's coach the past two seasons -- her first and second as a varsity head coach. Before that, King served as the junior varsity coach at South County from 2005-07.
The Stallions went 11-5 last spring and reached the Patriot District title game, losing to Annandale, 11-7. In the Northern Region tournament, South County bounced back and knocked off Mount Vernon before losing to eventual state runner-up Robinson, 17-5.
