Russo commits to VMI baseball

McLean baseball Coach John Thomas checked in this morning to say senior Chris Russo has verbally committed to play baseball at Virginia Military Institute.

He was recruited as a middle infielder.

Russo was a first-team all-Liberty second baseman last year for McLean. Russo had a .358 batting average, .553 on base percentage and a .509 slugging percentage last year. He also had 11 stolen bases and 11 RBI.

“We couldn’t be happier for Chris to have earned the opportunity to play at a program like VMI," Thomas said in an email. "He’s an very talented kid, but he also epitomizes hard work and dedication, and he’s headed to play division I baseball in large part due to those attributes. I have no doubt that he will be an extremely valuable asset to VMI’s program.”
