Three area field hockey players honored
In the midst of the annual struggle to compile basketball previews, this came across the old e-mail inbox this afternoon, so I thought I would pass it along. Turns out there are three field hockey players from within our coverage area who were selected to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association All-Region Team for the South Region.
They are:
Hannah Balleza, Severna Park
Shelly Montgomery, W.T. Woodson
Casey Pohlmeyer, Severna Park
Severna Park was 17-2 this season and won its 19th Maryland 4A title and fifth in a row. W.T. Woodson, which had a 17-game winning streak at one point this season, finished 20-4 and reached the Virginia AAA quarterfinals.
The complete list of players can be found here. Click on the link that says, "2009 Harrow Sports / NFHCA High School All-Region Teams."
