Virginia AA Region II playoff picture
With one week remaining in the season, Broad Run, Sherando, Loudoun County and James Wood have clinched Division 4 playoff berths; Handley, Western Albemarle, Park View and Goochland are in the Division 3 field. Here's the full breakdown:
Virginia AA Division 3 Region II
In: Handley (9-0), Western Albemarle (9-0), Park View (6-3), Goochland (8-1)
In with a win: Millbrook (5-4)
Still alive: Dominion (4-5), Skyline (5-4)
Skinny: Handley can clinch the top seed by beating James Wood (6-3) or with a Western Albemarle loss to Goochland. Western Albemarle can secure the other bye in the six-team field by beating Goochland or with a Park View loss to Freedom-South Riding(2-7). If Western Albemarle loses and Park View wins, it will be very close to determine the second seed and the other bye in the six-team field. Millbrook is in if it beats Sherando (7-2). The race between Dominion and Skyline is very close and could come down to the winner Friday's game between winless Mount Vernon and Wakefield, with a Wakefield victory helping out Dominion.
Virginia AA Division 4 Region II
In: Broad Run (10-0), Sherando (7-2), Loudoun County (7-2), James Wood (6-3)
In with a win: Liberty (6-3), Fauquier (5-4)
Still alive: Louisa County (6-3)
Skinny: Broad Run is idle this week and will be the top seed, meaning two weeks off. Sherando can clinch the second seed and a first-round bye by beating Millbrook (5-4) or with a Loudoun County loss to Potomac Falls (3-6). The Liberty-Fauquier winner is in.
