Site change for Riverdale-Stonewall girls' game

The location for Saturday's 12 p.m. public-private tilt between No. 17 Stonewall Jackson and No. 7 Riverdale Baptist has been switched, and the teams will now meet at Northwestern High School in Hyattsville, Md.

Riverdale Baptist
(11-5) has played an intrepid schedule thus far, with tournaments in Tennessee and Arizona. The Crusaders debuted as our top-ranked team, suffered a 47-43 loss to then-No. 20 Osbourn Park and dropped to the bottom of the rankings. But after rebounding and capturing its third straight IAABO title last week, Riverdale Baptist has worked its way back up the ladder.

Though it has stayed within the state, Stonewall Jackson (7-1) hasn't taken it easy by any means. The Raiders played in the Lady Millers Holiday Mixer and beat a pair of Maryland 2A state semifinalists -- including defending state champion City College -- by an aggregate score of 147-67.

A few players to watch include Virginia recruit Ataira Franklin (14.6 ppg) for Riverdale Baptist, who was named the IAABO's most valuable player for the second time in three years. Stonewall Jackson is led by Kyani White, a Virginia Tech-bound point guard who had a career-high 14 assists against City College, and junior Joy Carraciolo (22.4 ppg).
