On the heels of his 21-point performance in Georgetown’s 79-70 overtime victory over Memphis, Georgetown junior forward DaJuan Summers was named Big East Player of the Week Monday. It’s the first time Summers has earned the honor.

Summers tied for a team-high 14 points in the Hoyas’ 100-38 rout of Savannah State earlier last week.

With a 7-1 record, Georgetown moved up to 15th in this week’s Associated Press poll. The Big East boasts a record eight teams in the top 25 for a third consecutive week. In addition to Georgetown, they are: Connecticut (2), Pittsburgh (3), Louisville (9), Syracuse (11), Notre Dame (12), Villanova (18) and Marquette (24).

The Hoyas return to action Saturday, hosting Mount St. Mary's at Verizon Center at 1 p.m.
