Tuesday's Inauguration forced Virginia's men's basketball team to alter its travel plans for Tuesday night's game at Maryland.
The team left Sunday evening -- two days before the game -- instead of fighting Inauguration traffic on Monday. It helped that Monday is Martin Luther King Day, so school is not in session. That helped sway the athletic department into leaving a day earlier.
The Cavaliers will stay at a hotel in Columbia. They usually stay in Greenbelt when visiting Maryland. There will be some extra cushion in the departure from the hotel on Tuesday, too. The traveling party will leave at 4 p.m. for the 8 p.m. game, which is earlier than usual.
Virginia is 1-2 in the ACC. Both the Cavaliers and Terrapins need an ACC win, so Tuesday's game should be exciting. It will be interesting, though, to see how many fans watch it live at the Comcast Center with the traveling nightmare along the Beltway.
