Jan. 3, 1:15 p.m.: Hello from Verizon Center. I’m catching a Georgetown-Maryland double-header, so I’m headed to College Park soon after this Georgetown game ends. Here are some quick thoughts on an entertaining first half:
Georgetown’s DaJuan Summers has six of the Hoyas’ nine field goals. Summers has 16 points. Pitt’s defense has held the Hoyas to 33.3 percent shooting.
Greg Monroe has had a slow start. He had made 1 of 5 shots from the floor. He’s got a tough assignment guard DeJuan Blair, who made two quick baskets to start the game.
Georgetown is struggling on the boards once again. Pittsburgh is winning the rebounding battle, 24-15.
Dick Vitale just said, “Back to work.” So it’s time to head back out for the second half.
