The GW Hatchet, George Washington's student newspaper, is reporting that Karl Hobbs will remain the Colonials' coach. On its blog, "Courtside," GW Director of Athletics Jack Kvancz said, "Karl Hobbs will be the coach next year. He understands what is expected--his expectations might be even higher than mine." Hobbs came under fire this season after GW (10-18, 4-12 Atlantic 10) suffered through its second consecutive losing season. The Colonials finished 13th in the 14-team league, missing the Atlantic 10 tournament for the second year in a row. Hobbs, who is 133-100 in eight seasons at the school, signed a contract extension through 2012 before the 2007-08 season. The Hatchet previously reported that Hobbs was paid $509,000 in 2007, making him the university's sixth-highest paid staff member.
