American, the defending Patriot League tournament champion, is the No. 1 seed for the second consecutive year and the third time since joining the league. The top seed has won 14 of the 18 Patriot League titles. The Eagles (21-7, 13-1 Patriot), who will play all their tournament games at Bender Arena, open up on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. against Lafayette (8-21, 4-10), the team they played on Saturday. AU won at home against Lafayette, 78-65, on Jan. 31, but needed overtime to beat the Leopards, 75-68, on Saturday. The Eagles have won 11 in a row against Lafayette. The last time these teams met in the Patriot League quarterfinals, three years ago, American won 75-62.
