Three gambling casinos are among the main visitor attractions of Detroit, site of this year's Final Four. North Carolina point guard Ty Lawson told reporters during Thursday's media sessions about winning "about $250" at the Greektown Casino on Wednesday night.
NCAA President Myles Brand said that betting on sports is prohibited among NCAA employees, coaches and student-athletes. With regards to casino gambling by those of legal age (Lawson is 21), Brand said the NCAA doesn't attempt to regulate behavior among its student-athletes but that it is "strongly discouraged."
