North Carolina has taken the court, and we can safely report the following:
- The Tar Heels have the second-most fans here today. It's a distant second to nearby Michigan State, to be sure, but Carolina Nation has traveled well;
- Tyler Hansbrough is the most recognized player here. There wasn't much of the vitriol John Feinstein wrote about today, but Hansbrough was the subject of several shouts and squeals from the crowd when he emerged.
- North Carolina lying on the floor stretching isn't a whole lot different than Villanova lying on the floor stretching; can't these guys do this in the locker room?
- Roy Williams's tan is as incongruous on a gray April day in Detroit as it is in the dead of winter. Sporting a polo shirt and Carolina blue vest sweater, ol' Roy looks like a golf pro getting ready for his 4 p.m. lesson. Not that there's anything wrong with that.
Also, I just caught an errant loose ball that managed to make its way all the way to courtside, so I've outrebounded Prisbell and Yanda at this Final Four. But it's early, and I won't be sitting in the courtside seat tomorrow.
