U-Conn. has taken the floor and the Michigan State partisanship in the crowd is evident once again. While Villanova received polite applause in the last session (and even a warm send-off after Jay Wright had shaken hands with some fans and told CBS's Jim Nantz how happy they were to be in Detroit).

But when the Huskies were introduced before practice (yes, the players are introduced individually before practice), we heard the first boos of the afternoon. And then a modest "Go Green-Go White" chant from opposite sides of the court, which was nothing like the volume we heard when Michigan State was on the court but perceptible nonetheless.

As a disliked rival of numerous Big East schools, U-Conn. no doubt is accustomed to hostile receptions. But don't forget three short years ago, the Huskies were heavy favorites in an NCAA tournament region final and were upset in overtime, thanks in part to a partisan crowd supporting the underdogs. That team also wore a lot of green, so who knows?
