Canadian Interest Heating Up

It didn't take for college coaches to start calling once Kris Joseph enrolled at Carroll this past summer.

"The next day after he got here, we got calls from Gonzaga and Arizona State," Carroll Coach Clinton Perrow said. "They were already on him."

Since then, several suitors have been added to the mix for the 6-foot-7 junior forward. He holds scholarship offers from those two schools, as well as Clemson and George Mason. Georgetown and Maryland also are recruiting him but have yet to make an offer.

Perrow's play this season has only spurred more interest. He is averaging 16.2 points per game and had 30 on Tuesday night, including a game-winning three-pointer from a few feet beyond the arc in the final seconds as the Lions defeated No. 15 Bishop McNamara, 70-67 in overtime.

College coaches are particularly interested in Joseph because of his versatility. With Carroll point guard Travis King out 2-3 more weeks because of a sprained right knee, Joseph is playing just about every position on the court.
