O-Mazing! Mayo to Play Tonight
O.J. Mayo went to court yesterday afternoon (see the video here) and today a judge granted a temporary restraining order allowing him to play in Huntington High's game tonight against Artesia of Lakewood, Calif. The order allows Mayo to play until Feb. 9 - including Saturday's game against the top-ranked team in Kentucky - when a court hearing is scheduled.
Mayo was ejected from his previous game, which in West Virginia carries an automatic two-game suspension with no appeal.
One concern is that West Virginia high school association rules stipulate that if a player gets a temporary restraining order, plays and then loses a protest (or in this, in court), his school could have to forfeit games.
