DeMatha Guard Serious About Iowa Too

Earlier this week, I wrote about how Iowa Coach Steve Alford was at the City Title game to watch DeMatha guard Jeff Peterson. Well, with the Stags taking a brief break from practice this week -- they play in the Alhambra Catholic Invitational Tournament that begins March 15 -- Peterson is taking an official visit to Iowa City. Peterson was scheduled to leave yesterday afternoon. In addition to coaches from St. Louis and Xavier, La Salle also scouted Peterson on Monday. For those wondering about Peterson's interest in midwestern schools -- normally a rarity among local players -- he's originally from Springfield, Mo.

Speaking of DeMatha, argubly the most storied H.S. basketball program in the Nation, what a jerk the coach of Cardozo came across as with his post-game comments. "DeMatha didn't impress me. They really aren't that good". Well, coach, comments like that from a first year coach, from a third rate program, are not only deplorable, it shows what a long, long way you have to go. If DeMatha is "not that good", what does it make YOUR team look like, that got BLOWN AWAY by DeMatha. Hey, coach, at least pretend that you have some class!
