Maryland Tournament Thoughts
Looking back at yesterday's state semifinals at Comcast Center, here are a few thoughts on some top prospects:
B-CC center Maurice Pearson certainly got up for the challenge of playing Largo's 6-11 junior Maurice Sutton. If he plays like that at Ohio U., the Bobcats have a player.
As for Sutton, his plans for the future: "Weight room. I'm going to lock myself in there." Sutton said he recently received his first scholarship offer, when Marquette Coach Tom Crean visited Largo recently.
River Hill's 6-4 forward Tommy Brenton can play, but he'll have to adjust to going against taller opponents if he plays in college.
Sherwood guard Deontay Twyman wants to pursue a college football career, but there are plenty of scouts who watch him play and think he would be better off pursuing a future in basketball where his size won't be as much of an issue.

I've seen Taryn Christian play several times and I agree she is the real deal. At the Mountgomery County vs. Howard County All Star Game she was game high scorer. What impressed me the most was to see a point guard switch on defense to cover the other teams center and effectively shut her down, while displaying some effective post moves of her own. You've got to take notice when you have a player who can effectively play every position

Sutton would be a great fit for Marquette....all that program needs is one or two talented big men to get over the top. Sutton sounds like he'd do well in Crean's system

Taryn Christian just completed a great four year career at springbrook and recently accepted a scholarship to play basketball at Northeastern univ. in Boston. Will she be a first-team all-met or second team?
