River Hill Star Hoping For Looks

I've gotten quite a few emails during the season about River Hill forward Tommy Brenton, a 6-4 senior, asking what the future might hold for him. That question might begin to clear up this week, after Brenton led River Hill to the Maryland 3A title.

Brenton scored 28 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in the Hawks' 60-51 championship victory over Bethesda-Chevy Chase. And Coach Matt Graves, a former assistant at Lynchburg College, hopes Brenton's strong showing will open some possibilities.

"He wants to find a way to get to D-I basketball," Graves said. "I've told him that if we can get here to the big dance, his advertising can go up this week. I expect to get some calls."

The biggest question about Brenton is what position he plays in college. He obviously has a strong basketball IQ, which helps his versatility. But in college, he likely is not tall enough to play forward. Graves mentions that only three years ago, Brenton was a 5-10 point guard.
