Peterson In Limbo

Caught up with a few players, including DeMatha point guard Jeff Peterson, yesterday after the local team practiced for Thursday's Capital Classic.

Peterson said he has narrowed his college choices to Iowa, St. Louis and Princeton, but is not near reaching a final decision. He has yet to meet new Iowa coach Todd Lickliter and Princeton currently does not have a coach. Peterson said that New Mexico's new coach, Steve Alford, called him after taking that job, but Peterson was not interested in going to Albuquerque.

"I have no idea, no clue, what I'm going to do," Peterson said. "I've still got a little time [until the signing period begins April 11]. I'm trying to take my time and choose the best thing for me.

"I'm waiting to see what [Lickliter] says. I really like Iowa. Who knows? He might not want me. I might not fit into what he wants."

Peterson said Xavier is no longer an option; the Musketeers recently took a commitment from a junior point guard.

After attending the Iowa press conference for Lickliter yesterday, I think that Hawkeye Nation is gaining excitement with the naming of a humble, player's coach! I really hope Peterson attends Iowa in the fall, he would get quality playing time for four years and would play in front of a great crowd everynight!!!!!

If he goes to Princeton, Peterson leaves not with just a great basketball experience, but with a Princeton diploma.

Jeff needs to pick Saint Louis University.
He will receive a quality education at a private university, in a major league sports town. Saint Louis will embrace Jeff as the team moves into a brand new on campus facility. Jeff Peterson will love playing for the Billikens!
