Did Florida's Top Recruiter Slack Off On Haden?

Of course not. But after talking with Friendly RB Josh Haden about why he picked Boston College over Florida, I thought this was the most unusual tidbit: Haden's older brother, Joe, entering his freshman year at Florida, wasn't leaning on Josh to pick the Gators.

"He just wanted me to make the best decision," Josh Haden said. "He really didn't have much to say about it."

Ah, brotherly love. Josh Haden, who is 5-8 and 195 pounds, can squat 650 pounds and bench press 405. He's strong and explosive and said the biggest factor in his decision was fitting into Boston College's system, which also includes two senior running backs who complete their eligibility this fall. Haden is set to start summer school this week for his senior year English so that he can graduate from Friendly in January and enroll at Boston College for the spring semester and spring practice.

"It's all about situations," Haden said. "This is where I'm going to be spending the next four years."

Meantime, it appears that Friendly's other standout running back, Lamaar Thomas, is some time away from reaching his own college choice, having to sift through three dozen scholarship offers. Thomas was at Ohio State last week for a one-day camp and is expected to make a trip to North Carolina this week; Maryland also is believed to be high on his list.
