Gators Blowout Events Yields a Kicker?

Initially, I had a good chuckle reading that Florida's "Friday Night Lights" recruiting event had landed the Gators one recruit: a placekicker. But upon further exmaination, it appears this could be a significant recruit. Caleb Sturgis. He made 8 of 18 attempts last year, though six of the tries were from 55+. (Thanks to reader Scott Carey for pointing out that I had this figure wrong at first.)

All-Met WR Kenny Tate of DeMatha and Friendly RB Lamaar Thomas were among those in attendance for the weekend in Gainesville.

Here's more on the event, which drew 1,500 fans to Florida Field to watch the prospects work out. Guess there really is nothing to do in Gainesville on a Friday night.
