Board of Directors Doesn't Reconsider Text Message Ban
Not much has been made of this, but the NCAA Division I Board of Directors opted not to amend the text-messaging ban when it met last Thursday. There was plenty of hope among college football and basketball coaches that the group would discuss the ban and perhaps find a way to allow and monitor electronic communication with recruits. But that did not happen, so the ban (which went into effect August 1) will go to a vote of the full membership in January.
