Local Player Lands in the Big East
Gwynn Park senior Ronald Hobby, who plays wide receiver and cornerback, has verbally committed to play for Pittsburgh, Yellow Jackets Coach Danny Hayes said yesterday after returning from a vacation to the Bahamas.
Hobby also had scholarship offers from Boston College, Syracuse and Eastern Michigan, Hayes said, and is expected to play cornerback for the Panthers.
"Pitt offered him [in May] at the HSPD camp and basically we kept that under wraps," Hayes said. "He went up there and really liked the college."
Gwynn Park running back Jerrell Coles holds offers from Eastern Michigan, Towson and James Madison, while lineman Ernest Robinson has been offered by Delaware State. Hayes said he expects tight end Chibuke Achuko to wind up at Princeton.
Meantime, rising junior lineman Raynard Randolph has an offer from Rutgers and Hayes expects Randolph will wind up a highly-touted recruit.
