G'town Makes Big Splash
In case you missed it over the weekend, Georgetown got a verbal commitment from one of the nation's top high school seniors, 6-10 forward Greg Monroe of Harvey, La. Monroe was in attendance Friday night as the Hoyas opened preseason practice. The announcement was somewhat of a surprise, given that Monroe now will cancel scheduled visits to Texas, Duke and Connecticut.

Actually, Greg Monroe is the consensus #1-ranked men's basketball recruit for the high school class of 2008. He joins a long list of consensus #1 ranked men basketball recruits who had committed to, and played for the Hoyas: Patrick Ewing, Reggie Williams, Alonzo Morning, Othella Harrington, and AI.
