Busy Week For Big Lineman

Quince Orchard lineman Zach Kerr is preparing for Friday's Maryland 4A semifinal against Thomas Johnson, but he's also trying to reach a college choice. Maryland was scheduled to be at the Cougars' practice yesterday and then have an in-home visit with Kerr last night.

"It's getting down to crunch time for Zack in terms of who's for real and who is not," Quince Orchard Coach Dave Mencarini said.

Penn State, Rutgers and Boston College also are in the mix and "Illinois is coming on late," according to Mencarini, who said that all of those schools have made scholarship offers.

As for junior running back Travis Hawkins, Mencarini said, "Penn State is very interested. He'll have a bunch [of scholarship offers]. BC, Maryland. The same usual suspects."
