DeMatha Lineman Chooses Delaware

It's been a busy few days at DeMatha, where football coach Bill McGregor says that coaches from 18 different colleges have made their way through to look at prospective recruits. No news on standout wide receiver-defensive back Kenny Tate, but center Robbie McDowell committed to Delaware. Defensive back Jonathan Mason has the opportunity to play for Harvard, Yale or Princeton, but will take an official visit to Connecticut this weekend and "it wouldn't surprise me if he takes U-Conn. this weekend," McGregor said. Also, lineman Nick Rivers, a three-year starter who led the Stags in sacks, has I-AA offers such as Delaware and Richmond, but also holds an 80-percent scholarship offer to play baseball at Maryland. "He's going to have to make a tough decision, whether to go baseball or football," McGregor said.
