Tate Decision Coming Thursday
DeMatha two-time All-Met wide receiver Kenny Tate will announce his college decision Thursday afternon on Washington Post Live. He's down to Maryland and Illinois.
While it was intimated that Tate had eliminated Penn State from consideration earlier this month, Stags Coach Bill McGregor last night said that earlier in the day he had talked with Penn State super-recruiter Larry Johnson to tell Johnson that the Nittany Lions were indeed out of the running.
McGregor said that he does not know where Tate is going and thinks Tate has yet to reach a decision. McGregor also said that it seems Tate is tiring of the recruiting process, telling McGregor to let Maryland, Illinois and Penn State coaches not to make in-school visits for a last pitch this week.
Maryland defensive coordinator Chris "Cosh wanted to come in and talk to him" Tuesday, McGregor said. Illinois offensive coordinator Mike "Locksley wanted to come in to talk to him [Tuesday] and Larry wanted to come in Wednesday with two assistants. [Tate] doesn't want to talk to anybody. I think Locksley is coming to the [basketball] game [Tuesday] night. I don't know if Maryland is coming."
