U-Va. to Allow Midyear Enrollment
Here's an interesting story from Man About Charlottesville Jeff White, who has the story that Virginia will alter its admissions policy and start allowing midyear enrollment in certain situations. This should be a boost for the Cavaliers' football team, which has had to tell the growing number of recruits hoping to enroll midyear that it wasn't possible at Virginia. By enrolling midyear, players plan to go through spring practice and be better prepared to play as a freshman.
"Educationally, we think it's not a good idea," said Jack Blackburn, U.Va.'s dean of admissions. "We still feel that way, but we've decided to be reasonable with our athletic department, and the college deans feel [the new policy will work]."
