Good Reads Leading Up to Signing Period
Colleague Matt Stanmyre has a good read on HBCUs recruiting white players. According to some coaches, it's a growing trend.
The Chicago Tribune looks at the "bump rule", which stipulates that college coaches are supposed to avoid contact with recruits during certain times and are only allowed to greet them if they are approached by the recruit and even then must immeidately move on. Knowing how college coaches work and high school coaches operate, there's no question this rule is broken somewhere about every 30 seconds. College coaches want to gain any edge possible and high school coaches see extra contact as a way for their players to be recruited and get scholarships.
