New Suitor For Local Center
Just got off the phone with Largo Coach Lewis Howard. He reports that 6-11 center Maurice Sutton still has scholarship offers on the table from South Florida, Seton Hall and Marquette, with Boston College, Clemson, Kentucky and North Carolina State still showing interest. South Florida Coach Stan Heath came to a practice last week, while Seton Hall Coach Bobby Gonzalez was at a game. Niagara Coach Joe Mihalich also came to a recent practice.
And Howard reports there could be a new suitor for Sutton - and an unusual one at that, for the Washington area, as he expects Hawaii to have an assistant coach in attendance Friday night. "I know someone that used to play at the University of Hawaii and he lives in the area now," Howard said. "It's all about communication and who you know."
Howard said that Sutton is close to achieving a college board score that would allow him to meet the NCAA's minimum academic standards to accept a scholarship.
